Alex HQuest
Hey all. I finally managed to install Snow Leopard on my Core i5 / Asus P7P55D LE -- should be posting more instructions soon. However, I do still have a small issue. My 4850 is fully working with QE/CI, but not on my 24" LCD. I am typing from a VNC session... This install is a Vanilla 10.6.2, combo updated from a retail 10.6.0, using Chameleon 2.0 RC3 r635. I have edited ATI4800Controller to add my device id 0x94421002, and added GraphicsEnabler=Yes on boot.plist. Card is a 512Mb Sapphire 4850 HDMI, 1HDMI+1DVI+1VGA (monitor is on my DVI port). This screen is capable of 1920x1200, which is what I had set on boot.plist too. Any clues about it? Thanks. Alex HQuest
From other users posts found here on InsanelyMac, there are sucesses and failure stories. What I noticed, however, is mileage is varying mostly because of connector's order on each video card. So, I am now extending the question to another level, which should fix each and every "black screen" issues, no matter which card one is using, assuming settings can be changed for his/her adapter. Is there any way, using PC-EFI/Chameleon/EFI Strings/plist editing/whatever, to assign one particular VGA port as default output, instead of using driver/hardware automatic detection? I found some interesting strings inside ATI_Support.kext, but I have no clue how to modify their values. Advices are welcome.
