I recently installed a totally vanilla retail SL on my ASUS 1000HEB netbook following a guide here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=186596 After upgrading to 10.6.1, I lost support for USB mass storage devices on my system. I also noticed that if I plug in a USB keyboard, functions such as numlock dont appear to work on it, just basic keys work. What the strange part is, that the USB ports are recognized in my system profiler. This is a sample of one of the USB ports: USB Bus: Host Controller Location: Built-in USB Host Controller Driver: AppleUSBUHCI PCI Device ID: 0x27c8 PCI Revision ID: 0x0002 PCI Vendor ID: 0x8086 Bus Number: 0x1d If you need any other info (such as kexts installed) just ask.
