Pliny
Seated a new VisionTek ATi 4870 to replace my GeForce 7900. My regular 10.5.5 OS drive will not boot with this card. Booting -v -x stops on the following: /user/sbin/ocspd[74]: starting krb5kdc 82 FS_READ_DATA SBF /usr/share/icu/icudt36l.dat 13 (seatbelt) krb5kdc 82 FS_READ_DATA SBF /usr/share/icu/icudt36l.dat 13 (seatbelt) krb5kdc 82 FS_READ_DATA SBF /usr/share/icu/icudt36l.dat 13 (seatbelt) krb5kdc 82 FS_READ_DATA SBF /usr/share/icu/icudt36l.dat 13 (seatbelt) krb5kdc 82 FS_READ_DATA SBF /usr/share/icu/icudt36l.dat 13 (seatbelt) There is hard drive activity for about a minute. After that, nothing. I have a spare OS drive with 10.5.1, which boots just fine with the 4870 seated. And both of my OS drives are OK with the old 7900. Did some googling but not much help; short of doing a clean install, any suggestions for troubleshooting this?
Pliny
Answering my own question: had to remove old Natit kexts. /sbin/mount -uw / cd /system/library/extensions rm -r Natit.kext* exit Now on to the 4870 driver install...
