ClemsonJeeper
So I'm trying to build a Hackintosh rig that will give me the least amount of headache. Not sure if that's even possible. Anyway, this is what I'm thinking sofar: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 CPU: Intel Core i7 920 Video: EVGA GeForce GTX 285 1GB Memory: Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600 Drive: WD VelociRaptor 300GB 10K RPM Is this a viable configuration to get everything working (sound/network/accelerated video/etc) under a vanilla leopard 10.5.7 install? I've been doing a lot of reading and it looks like people are still having issues of getting the GT 200 series working 100% under a hackintosh. Thanks for the help. TomCom
There's no Apple driver yet. You'll have to wait for a few more weeks, or tweak it following Netkas' guide: http://netkas.org/?p=105 And I wouldn't buy a VRaptor if I were you. It's obsolete. Get an SSD for your OS, HD for datas, unless you're in video editing or stuff like that. What SSD? OCZ Vertex, Summit or G.Skill Falcon. 120GB ones are faster but still pricey. And don"t forget to buy a decent heatsink (Scythe Mugen 2, Noctua, etc) for your CPU, a 600W PSU and a case deep enough for the gigantic GTX. They are supposed to be the fastest SSDs, and I'll probably pick 2 of them up and RAID 0 them when it gets released. Supposed to happen "mid-2009" but still unknown. I figure I'll get the Velociraptor to hold me over then move that to my PC when the SSD finally gets released. And don"t forget to buy a decent heatsink (Scythe Mugen 2, Noctua, etc) for your CPU, a 600W PSU and a case deep enough for the gigantic GTX. Nice. Forgot about the heatsink. I'll do some research on them. I already have a pretty beefy Thermaltake case and power supply so that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the comments!
