I will first say I have updated my bios from the LG website. It makes the fan work a little harder at keeping your system cool. Also, i have never tested sleep function with the original bios, so if it doesn't work, this may be why. If you do install this bios, which I recommend if you find your laptop getting very hot on the touchpad and/bottom, you may need to unplug it and remove the battery afterwards in order to make it work again. They don't tell you this, and it freaked me out when I did it, which is why i mention it.

What won't work:
microphone/headphone jack
Hibernate
Webcam

You may on occasion have to hold down your power button to turn off your system after shutting down OS X... This is nothing to be concerned about, but it means you have to watch your computer after hitting shutdown until it powers off in order to not kill your battery.

You'll need a few files:
1) Pcwiz's Universal Installer:
http://######.com/in...=...9&Itemid=48
2) WiFi Drivers(Realtek RTL8187SE)
http://forums.msiwin...file.php?id=758
3) OPTIONAL: Speedstep Control App(I've found using this app can cause instability... had a couple lockups when I was {censored} with the settings)
http://www.superhai....PUPMControl.zip

Put those files on either a USB drive, CD/DVD, or on your windows partition(If you plan on dual-booting), as you will need them during the installation process.

Preinstallation. I won't go into too much detail here unless someone asks me to.

First, your going to need to partition your hard drive... You don't need to do this if you are replacing windows with OS X, but I recommend keeping Windows so you can be compatible with everyone else...
Download EASUS Partition Manager, or Partition Magic. I like EASUS, and it has a free demo available.

First things first. Resize your windows partition. I recommend deleting as much as you can, uninstalling everything you don't use, and then resizing it so you have 15-30Gb free for installing future programs... A lot of people miss their windows games when they make the switch, so it's nice to have a little space to install some.

Now, create another to fill the empty space partition, fat32 should work, don't choose NTFS, this way it is easier to tell them apart... It's just a placeholder for your Mac partition later...

---

Installation

1) Put the disk in your DVD drive and start up the computer. Press F11 a few times at the bootup screen, so that you get the blue boot menu instead of windows loading. Select your DVD drive, and hit enter.
2) Press F8 at the Darwin Boot loader before the countdown finishes. You should have about 5 seconds after you select your DVD drive from the boot menu.
3) Enter the following string to select your boot-up options:
-v debug=0x100 FSB=133 cpus=2 memoryType=19 memorySpeed=667
and press enter
4) Watch and wait for the installer to load.
5) Click the right arrow button when prompted
6) Click "Utilities" on the menu bar at the top of the screen, and select "Disk Utility" from the dropdown menu.
7) Once the disk utility loads, Select the partition you created as a placeholder. (Be VERY sure you are not selecting your windows partition, it is probably NTFS, which is why i suggested you choose fat32 as a placeholder)
8) Select the Erase tab on the right half of the window at the top.
9) Under "volume format" on the same screen, select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", and click the Erase button. Now is a good time to rename the partiton. I called my iATKOS.
10) Now exit the Disk Utility, and when the install process pops back up.
11) Click continue, and select your iATKOS partiton, and again click continue below.
12) Click the customize button in the bottom left corner. <-- VERY IMPORTANT.
13) Now go through the menu and ensure all the following options, and only the following options.
May not be in the correct order.
iATKOS v5i Main System
AppleDecrypt
PCI EFI V9
9.5.0 Kernel Voodoo
Stock ACPI Modified
SMBIOS-EFI Air
PS/2
OHR
Disabler.kext
Remove Powermanagement.kext
Remove Thermal Kexts
GMA950 b
EFI String for intel
Intel AHCI SATA
Laptop Battery
NTFS-3G
ext2fs (Not recommended as it can corrupt your filesystem, but could help some Linux users)
Realtek R1000

14) Click done, and click install.
15) If you do not see a progress window detailing your install progress(it should pop up within a few second of clicking install), you will need to restart your computer by holding down the power button for several seconds(more than 5 i think), and begin from step 1. Skip steps 6-10 the second time around, as it is already done.

Once install is finished:

16) Choose your country, and click continue
17) Select US Keyboard layout, and click continue
18) Select "Do not transfer my information", and click continue
19) Click continue a few times, skipping ahead to the registration. (Because your wifi isn't working yet, it will not be sent in, and instead a link to send it will be placed in your user folder, and clicking this later will send your information to apple)
20) Create your account - > this password will also be your admin password for making changes to your system, and click continue
21) Choose your account icon - you can't take a snapshot because your webcam won't work - and click continue
22) Select your timezone, and click continue twice. (the time will set itself when you get wifi working)

Post Install Setup: Do it right away

23) Open terminal. You can locate it on your iATKOS drive in the folder "/Applications/Utilities/"
24) In terminal type the following:
cd /library/preferences/systemconfiguration
sudo pico com.apple.Boot.plist
<Enter your password and press enter>

Now find the lines that read:
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string></string>

and change them to:
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>-v FSB=133 memoryType=19 memorySpeed=533 debug=0x100</string>

Press ctrl-x, followed by 'Y' to save

25) Now locate your WiFi driver, which you downloaded before. Run the file "Installer87se", and reboot your system when asked to.
26) When your computer reboots, make sure you are connected to the internet via your Realtek WiFi App, which will now load on startup, and can be located in your /Applications folder if it ever closes. Do this by selecting the "Available Network" Tab, choosing a network, and clicking connect. Enter SSID information and any other info your network required to connect. (Unsecure networks may not need any additional info)
27) a) Open the UInstaller App you downloaded before you started.
B) From the menubar above, click UInstaller, and select "Download more plugins"
c) Select MSI Wind DSDT Bios 1.09
d) Click Download Selected (loacted at the top of the window)
e) Exit the program by pressing Alt-Q (Your Alt Key is now your "Apple/command" key, and your windows key is now your "Alt/Options" key
f) Restart the program
g) Select the following Options:
Choose Hard Drive to apply to: iATKOS (Or whatever you called your OS X partition)
Select motherboard package to install: MSI_Wind_DSDT_Bios_109
Check these boxes:
Apply Kext Package
Apply DSDT patch
Set Native Resolution <-- Enter 1024 x 600 in the boxes to the right of this option
Apply EFI string for video card <-- Select "Intel GMA 950 (Laptop)
h) Click Install!
i) Restart your computer!

28) Click the apple logo in the top-left. Click "About this mac". and ensure it says 1.6Ghz under processor, and 667Mhz under Ram.
29) Now click More info. On the first screen that loads, look for the bus speed. It should read 533.
If the bus speed, processor speed, and Ram speed all read correctly, than the drivers responsible for controlling the cpu are working correctly -> they can be controlled with the GenericCPUPMControl app you were offered the option to download.
30) Now click the same apple logo, and select "System Preferences"
31) Click "Keyboard & Mouse", and under the Trackpad tab, check the following boxes: clicking and dragging. You can also adjust the tracking speed
32) Click the back arrow at the top/left of the window, and browse the other options to customize your new Mac System
33) Enjoy!

Do not update to 10.5.6 for stability reasons. MSI Wind, which is the same hardware can handle it fine, but our Bios doesn't seem to like it. You can update all of the other software via the software update utility.

I've got the LG 110, 1 gig ram... man it sucks we can't add an extra gig liek the Winds.

I'm new with a lotta this transvestite flip flops i.e. windows in macs, now mac in windows...

tried a few of the other wirte-up found them confusing... right to the point where i was using an external mac mouse and keyboard and couldn't figure out how to bail out of that issue...

works well thank you...

I know this is a rather old post - but it never hurts to ask. :D

I'm about to install it on my LG X110 tomorrow, when I get my external DVD-drive.
So I was just wondering if anybody came up with a solution to get the headphonejack working as I prefer iTunes by a lot on Leopard over Windows.

Thanks for the guide.

In fact its possible, also the webcam
to fix the audio problem you will need the voodoo kext you can find in http://thireus.darey..._By_Thireus.zip
also the kext helper to install them
to fix the webcam just download the program twistcam.dmg

hope it helps

Well I made a topic for this because it was a bit more specific, but anyway :

Well, first of all I searched everywhere and tried every guide for MSI Wind ( since LG X110 is basically the same, even the same board etc. ) before coming here, but I really couldn't get this to work. I restored the Windosx86.iso to my 4GB pen drive, installed PC EFI v8 and runned FDISK using OSx86Tools, changed in the BIOS the boot sequence so it would first boot from an USB drive, plugged in the pen drive and all I see is a blinking underline, nothing more, it simply doesn't boot.

P.S: Tried using an USB HD instead of a pen drive just to see if it was due to some stupid reason but didn't work anyway ( yes, I'm desperate ).Ow and I updated to the last BIOS but didn't help as well.

Thanks !

Wow can't believe people are still installing using iatkos 5i :)
snowywind final should be out in a couple days.

I was using iATKOS v7 for a while but I was playing with windows 7 and different linux distros more recently so I haven't had much activity with osx in recent months...

Um, for the UInstaller... Try downloaded a more recent one, search "Universal OSX86 installer" I would guess you will still find it.

As for the keyboard... I would guess it has something to do with the PS/2 options you used... It's been a while since I've done this, but try reselecting ONLY the options I listed in the original post. If you selected any other options when customizing, it make have installed conflicting kexts. You are probably doing I will see if I can find my iATKOS 5i disk and troubleshoot this for you...

There is also the option of connecting a USB keyboard and installing the newer voodoo ps2 kexts which I remember were included in the iATKOS v7, and removing the old one. I can probably remember how to do that.

I'm pretty sure there is also an alternative PS/2 kext included in the disk, so you could deselect the one I mentioned, and read the descriptions of the kexts to find the other one.(I figured out this configuration by reading package descriptions and testing which ones worked after multiple installs)

If it were me, I wouldn't be doing this with the iATKOS 5i disk anymore unless I lived somewhere with very little bandwidth for downloading.

If you would like to wait, I have 3 weeks off of school starting next week, so I will write an equally simple description of the steps I use to install snow leopard, which I was planning to do anyways.

As for ChaosVx, this guide is not for the windosx86.iso file. It is intended for people using the iATKOS 5i _DVD_ . You should look for a post where people are booting from USB, preferably with the same iso and ask for help there.

My external DVD arrived so I installed iATKOS v7 , just wanted to know how you fixed the HD clicking sound , I tried hdapm with no sucess ( I don't have this problem on Windows or on Linux if I use hdparm ). ;)

Regards !
