mrjoe
I have recently moved from an XPS 410 to an XPS 630. I have pressed the search button and only found 1 post with regard to an XPS 630, and it was an old one. So now I've created this thread. My ext. hard drive broke so I have to redownload Leo4All, but hopefully I will have it done soon. Now we wait.
Mish
Any luck? Did you manage to install OSX on your 630i yet? I'm having issues....
mrjoe
yeah, I'm having issues too. So what kind of errors are you getting? Wanted to check.
Mish
yeah, I'm having issues too. So what kind of errors are you getting? Wanted to check. I'll let you know later tonight. We gotta help each other out on this. I tried installing iPC 10.5.6, but didn't even manage to install a barebone system, so I'm trying with iDeneb 1.3 (10.5.5). The main thing is to install using the fix to use only a single core. There's a workaround for this, but I haven't figured it out yet. I've been desperately trying to install a functional osx (sound\networking\gfx) for a few days, I spent the whole saturday trying...but I know it's possible so I'm not giving up yet. I'll keep you posted. Do you also have to 650i nforce chipset? EDIT: Does anyone know which kernel is best to install?

I got iPC 10.5.6 Final with all 5 patches to install by choosing the following: iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Base System Kernels - 9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel Drivers - Chipset Drivers - AppleNForceATA (with 4G ram fix) Drivers - USB Drivers - Patched USB Drivers Fixes and Patches - Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5 (must be installed if Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel is installed) Fixes and Patches - AppleSMBIOS Patch - AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 Mac Pro ALC888 (onboard audio) Netgear GA311 (R1000 kext) - could never get a stable kext for the onboard lan I loaded my graphics card after. nVidia GeForce 9800 GT 512mb (load the 8800gt 512 with efi studio, enable quartz with osx86 tools) The only issues now for me are when transferring large files from sata hd to sata hd or usb, the computer freezes. Also the dvd and blu-ray sata that I have don't work with the current chipset selection. I have tried medevil's kext but it only enables it to be read only, no burning. This kext will also randomly freeze the computer. You guys may have better luck. Please let me know if you can help with my issues. EDIT: I'm following 4 threads if you want to check them out. mrjoe
That's nice to know (I haven't been on InsanelyMac lately cause of speed issues with internet) What is the seatbelt driver for?
mrjoe
OK I don't know about all of you but I happen to have an ethernet controller which is apparently MCP51. This is supported fully by forcedeth 0.61, which was ported last year to OS X. In fact: Supported PCI ids:0x01c310de, 0x006610de, 0x00d610de, 0x008610de, 0x008c10de, 0x00e610de, 0x00df10de, 0x005610de, 0x005710de, 0x003710de, 0x003810de, 0x026810de, 0x026910de, 0x037210de, 0x037310de, 0x03e510de, 0x03e610de, 0x03ee10de, 0x03ef10de, 0x045010de, 0x045110de, 0x045210de, 0x045310de, 0x054c10de, 0x054d10de, 0x054e10de, 0x054f10de, 0x07dc10de, 0x07dd10de, 0x07de10de, 0x07df10de, 0x076010de, 0x076110de, 0x076210de, 0x076310de, 0x0ab010de, 0x0ab110de, 0x0ab210de, 0x0ab310de The bold one is my hardware ID. Since it's listed in the supported IDs, I am going to reinstall Leopard (I deleted it) and install the kext. Kext link is here
mrjoe
OK I'm sorry to bump this topic, but when I try to run iPC installer the USB mouse and keyboard I have don't work. Since all of us have the same hardware I wonder why it's doing this to me...
mrjoe
All right I got 9800GT working (all resolutions and CI working, Quartz working but not extreme) except for QE by using nvidia 9 series installer pkg v2. NO EFI EDITING REQUIRED. Also I have NVinject 512MB / vanilla both v2.1. nForce ethernet also working with nForceLAN.kext (look it up). HOWEVER you do have to manually adjust the IP settings and stuff. DO NOT USE nForceEthernetController.kext, it does not work. USB needs some adjusting sometimes (unplug others except for mouse and keyboard then replug after 2 reboots )
