Hi all,

This is the first time to install Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.2 to my PC.

my system specs are as follows:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600@2.4GHz

Motherboard : GIGABYTE P43-DS3

OS: Leopard 10.5.2 (kalyway)

Mem: Kingston DDR2 800

GPU: ELSA 9500GT(G96)

NC: Realtek 8168

Sound: ALC888

HDD: 500GB SATA WD Caviar & 1x750GB SATA WD Caviar

CD-ROM: BENQ DVD-RW (IDE)

I burn the Kalyway_Leopard_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd.iso image install to a DVD, print the message “waiting for boot devcie” when booting.I use a IDE to USB transmitter, install the Leopard on my PC successfully.

Thanks to the google, I find the right driver for the ALC888, but I have not find the way to make my graphic card work properly.

I googled and read many posts about how to make the leopard to support nvidia grahphic card, there are many ways, so I am confused.

Solution 1:

1. Uninstall / Delete NVinject.kext

2. Install GeForce.kext, NVDAResman.kext and NVDANV50Hal.kext from here (extracts from latest kexts for 10.5.3).

3. Go to System Profiler and note down the 4-digit Device ID for your 9800GX2 (4 digits after 0x.)

4. Now go to DiaboliK's Helpful Files and install NVKush.

Solution 2:

Using the NVIDIA_9000_Series_Driver_v2.zip

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry949684

Solution 3:

Using the Nvinject.kext, modify the Info.plist to support grahpic card.

Solution 4:

Using the NVdarwin

Solution 5:

Using the Nvinstaller

What’s the difference between the solutions ?

Can I make my 9500GT work properly with any solution mentioned above ?

In solution 2: require OSX version 10.5.5, Do I have to update the leopard in order to install NVIDIA_9000_Series_Driver_v2 ?

Which is the right way to make the 9500GT fully work?

Any suggestion will be appreciated !

  • 4 weeks later...

At all I can't understand if I've correctely installed it, which of those solutions is better?

I made a complete reinstallation I made the same nvidia driver installation (the second solution) but now it seems to be quiet more scattered, I don't know why!

The first solution with NVKush won't work correctely.

With second solution it work without any problem in booting and shutdown it's really fast, but... I can't have the Quartz Extreme (also known as QE ) enabled.

Now I tried with nvinject but it's the same, I got this from System Profiler:
