msaspence Posted November 3, 2008 Share Posted November 3, 2008 I recently sent up a file server running Ubuntu to store all my media, now I am thinking about making it a hackingtosh to power my TV. It will need a new mother board (thinking of recycling my asus p5w from my desktop and getting it a new one as the second ram channel is broken) a new processor and a new graphics card. I have been using a hackingtosh as my main desktop (albeit with lots of back up) for a little while now, and whilst I really enjoyed the challenge of getting it working I dont see the need of making this any harder than it has to be and was hoping for some hardware recommendations. The graphics card should be just above budget ie cheap but value for money, really quite preferably passively cooled, at least DVI but preferably HDMI. And of course it would be nice if it just worked with iatkos 10.5.4. Or the alternative is to just get a mac mini when they are updated. Thoughts please.
