trikolon Posted March 16, 2006 Share Posted March 16, 2006 hi everybody. i hope you guys can help me. first of all what i did: all i have installed is linux (gentoo) and grub as my bootloader. i created a AF partition (hda3 or hd0,2), booted from the mac os x 10.4.4/5 dvd. there i had to reformat the partition and than everything was installed without any errors. but i cannot boot it! i even booted the install dvd and set the partition as start volume.. he wasnt interested in it at all. i have never seen any kind of mac bootloader.. here is the important part of my grub.conf: title Mac OS X 10.4.5 x86 rootnoverify (hd0,2) makeactive chainloader /chain0 i get error 17 with this. chainloader +1 doesnt work and chainloader --force +1 freezes grub with error 18... with chain0 it says something like cant mount partition.. grub is on hda1 with reiserfs. i can mount the mac partition with linux. so please help me booting os x!! i really dont know anything i havent tried yet. trikolon Posted March 17, 2006 Author Share Posted March 17, 2006 some additional infos: my grub version is 0.96 some configs i tried: root (hd0,2) makeactive chainloader +1 --> Filesystem type unknown, patition type 0xaf - Error 13 invalid or unsupported executable format rootnoverify (hd0,2) makeactive chainloader +1 --> Error 13.. rootnoverify (hd0,2) makeactive chainloader --force +1 --> Grub loading, please wait - Error 18 rootnoverify (hd0,2) makeactive chainloader --force (hd0,0)/grub/chain0 --> chain booting error any suggestions?? any ideas?? please help me Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
