I'm not the one who would kill some promising tracks, even if chances are low. But this one was getting ridicule since some time. Attracting more and more clueless people on something that they don't understand. Leaving this go and supporting it can't be good. If some new things come, it will be reconsidered and a new topic may be created, so far it's stuck and won't go anywhere as long as someone won't get into driver coding.
