Messed up external drive

Ok so I've been trying to get my external firewire drive to show up in My Computer in Vista. I went into the Partition and Formatting tool from somewhere in the control panel and it came up with a partition table type (or something like that) dialog box. I clicked ok thinking it wouldn't do anything and I looked around in the preferences and I couldn't find anything. This is where it got weird. The disk showed as being only one partition. I think I changed the partition table by accident. I went into Mac and the drive wouldn't mount and it told me I had to initialize it. So now I've lost everything that was on the drive (Mostly very hard to both find and replace). I tried a program called TestDisk to restore the old partition map but I don't have any idea what I'm doing with that.

Does anyone know how to restore the old map?

Ok I figured it out. If anyone else has this problem, download TestDisk and have it analyze your disk. After it's finished it should come up with your old configuration. Make sure you set all your partitions to P and not D (for delete, I forget what P was for). Then select write. It will write the old map to your disk and it should be ok. I gotta say, this was way too close for me. Pretty lucky day anyways.
