  1. hi mattcurtis, about your installation method... I didn't use iAtkos L2 but only original DVD applying the above kext. About sleep, I resolved using a custom DSDT instead fo sleepenabler (this one depends from OSX level: one for 10.7.1, one for 10.7.2 etc etc). I noticed that sometimes when I wake up it from sleep, I lost bluetooth functionality. When you upgrade your os, be sure to reapply the right kext. GMA950 it's native (32bit) in OSX. Glad to hear about a succefully 10.7.5 update. Normally I use Snow Leopard 10.6.7 on my nc4400 and not more Lion. With 10.6.7 I didn't ever seen a KP!!! Really rock solid. Don't forget to vote my Poll. Bis Bald Pat
  2. Hi to all..... Here my new guide for an HP DV2780EL (NVIDIA 8400M GS, 128MB). The people that own these kind of models just know the infamous issue with GPU and the only real solution is a COMPLETE reball of the chip. So I had in my hands this notebook and after a reball I began to play with OSX. Below my results: Anyway, here below I will show you a fast way to install Snow Leopard Vanilla 10.6.7 on this notebook to achive an usable OSX 10.6.7 on this PC First of all sorry for my really bad English!!!! MAIN NOTEBOOK SPECS: HP DV2780EL (dv2700 series) - C2D T8100 @2.1Ghz 800FSB 2MB L2 - 2GB RAM DDR2 667 - HDD 80GB Sata 5400rpm - NVIDIA 8400M GS 128M - HDMI - Firewire - Card Reader Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 - Wireless Broadcom Corporation BCM4315 802.11 b/g - LAN wired Marvell Yukon Gigabit Adapter 88E8039 - Integrated Fingerprint Reader AuthenTec Inc. AES2501A - Bluetooth Broadcom 2.1 - Display 14,1 TFT (XWGA) 1280x800 WHAT IT'S WORKING (32bit): - DUAL CORE working at 100% - WIFI Broadcom (ootb) - LAN Ethernet Gigabit (using specific kext) - Bluetooth (ootb) - VGA with QE/CI enabled (using GraphicsEnabler=Yes) - Brightness controls (DSDT patch) - Volume controls (ootb) - Audio / Internal MIC (using only a specific VoodooHDA) - Audio external (front MIC jack and Headset jack) - Internal Keyboard/Touchpad (using VoodoodPS2 patched) - DVD burner (ootb) - Battery (using kext) - Speedstep (using fakesmc and VoodooPowerMini) - Firewire (not tested) - Audio External Jack - VGA-OUT only in Extended mode - HP WebCam (it's recognized but only Black Image. The only way it's using CamTwist) - Sleep (manual) and Wake UP (no more issues) UPDATED 20/08/2012 * WHAT IT'S NOT WORKING (32bit): - SLEEP/Lid Sleep/Wake UP - Express Card/54 slot (not tested) - Internal 56K Modem: it's only a WIN-MODEM (WIN=WIndows!) Absolute no support in OSX - VGA-OUT in mirror mode!! (if you try, u will see vertical lines. To restore the situation use the command line tool: 'mirror -off'. You can found it easy on google or in my previous guide about 10.6.7 on nc6400. - Fingerprint recognition - Internal Card Reader RICOH (*) 20/08/2012: I have tried to reinstall all following my guide, and I believed that the wake up problems have been related to a kext. So I tested the sleep/wakeup at every Kext installation and so I have isolated the one that creates the issue: AppleACPIThermal.kext I have located it under plugins folder of AppleACPIPlatform.kext (vanilla 10.6.7). So if u want a working sleep/wakeup, please don't install it!! For automatic sleep I'm testing KWscript linked here http://www.insanelym...howtopic=182535 WHAT YOU NEED: - Notebook as above - USB Keyboard and mouse (for installation) - USB Pen of minimum 8GB - Another Real Apple/Hackintosch PC would be better to prepare all the necessary steps - Internet 1) BIOS SETTINGS: - No special settings at all. Load Bios Defaults is enough P.S. if you prefer, you can use a BIOS patched to remove Whitelist for Wireless Card. 2) CREATION OF THE USB STICK (MIN 8GB!!!): - Buy/Download a RETAIL DVD of OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.3. I have used a .torrent from a Russian Forum. Be sure to find a RETAIL DVD and not a modified one (Hazard, iATKOS, etc etc...). The image is circa 6GB - Using anothe MAC insert the USB stick, format it and restore the Image.dmg on it - Now launch MyHack 1.1 and install it on USB Pen so it becomes bootable. During the wizard please choose "AdHoc" and select only these options: core, com.apple.Boot.plist, EvoReboot and FakeSMC and nothing else!!!! - On my ZIP file you will have a folder called "Extra" with some files. Please copy: com.apple.Boot.plist, dsdt.aml and smbios.plist to the same /Extra folder of the USB pen overwriting if necessary. - NOW YOU ARE READY FOR THE INSTALLATION!!!!!! P.S.: If you want to use MBR table on your hackintosch (for multiboot with windows xp or other things) instead of GUID (that create an EFI hidden partition), please consider to apply the patch "OSInstall_1063_10D575_deviato.zip" provided in my ZIP. Some users reported to me that MyHack 2.x works also fine. I suppose that it's correct. In this case please consider to use org.chameleon.Boot.plist instead of com.apple.Boot.plist. The main difference it's that from a certain version of chameleon 2.1 the com.apple.Boot.plist has become obsolete. 3) BEGIN THE INSTALLATION ON IBM LENOVO: - Insert the new USB Pen, USB Keyboard and USB Mouse on your notebook, power it on and boot from USB (press F12). A Chameleon should appear and wait 5 seconds. I have switched the installation in verbose mode (-v) so you can see all. - Now begin the classic OSX wizard (languages etc). Using "Disk Utility" prepare your HDD as you prefer (number of partitions, GUID or MBR etc) and so on...... After a while (it should take 20/30 minutes!!!) it will finish and ask you for reboot. - Please reboot with USB pen inserted and when chameleon appears, press a key and choose your new HDD OSX partition and press enter. Now the wizard will continue till the end. 4) FIRST USE: - When you are on SL 10.6.3 you have to make bootable your NEW OSX Partition. For that reason you have to launch another time MyHack 1.1 (that you can found on your USB Pen used for the installation) and make exactly the same things of the STEP 2) for the USB Pen: install MyHack 1.1 on OSX Partition of your HDD, select core, com.apple.Boot.plist, EvoReboot and FakeSMC, after installation copy from /Extra on USB penthese 3 files com.apple.Boot.plist, DSDT.aml and smbios.plist on the /Extra folder on your HDD. - (Alternative method) You can use the utility "Chameleon Wizard" (provided in my ZIP) and install the Build-in Chameleon 2.1 r1819. Always using this tool you can create your own "org.chameleon.boot.plist". I have choosen: Verbose mode, GUI, Time Out 3s, npci = 0x2000, darkwake = 0, 32bit (arch=i386), Ethernet Built-in, System Type (2), Restart Fix, Enable C4 States, GraphicsEnabler = Yes. For SMBIOS.plist I have used MacPro 4,1. Don't forget to place DSDT.aml under /Extra!!! - Copy on your HDD at least Kext Utility - In my ZIP file you will have a folder named /EE (=/Extra/Extensions) and /SLE (=/System/Library/Extensions). What is under /Extra must correspond to the related one in your OSX Partition, instead /SLE means what you should install under your /System/Library/Extensions naturally using Kext Utility. - At this step you can just install VoodooPS2Controller.kext into /SLE and eventually broadcomfix.kext if you have a Broadcom not automatically recognized by OSX (like mine that is a BCM4315). After that DON'T FORGET to run KextUtility. In general EVERY TIME you manipulate some kext. - Now you are ready to restart the OSX without USB Pen, USB Keyboard and USB Mouse. 5) INSTALL OSX 10.6.7 COMBO UPDATE: - Now restart and check if your SL 10.6.3 is working. You can quite control if your DSDT is read by the System if you can see the bluetooth icon or Biometric Coprocessor on System Profiler (USB section). - Download Snow Leopard Combo Update 10.6.7 (circa 1 GB) and install it - After the installation restart the PC - Using Kext Utility, you can quite complete the procedure installing the others kexts (for /E/E and /S/L/E) launching kextutility. 6) THAT'S ALL!!!! - Now you can quite apply each Apple Update you prefer EXCEPT for 10.6.8. I am not interested on this major update. It prepares the way to LION update modifing several things. I think that for this kind of notebook 10.6.7 it's the maximum about stability. SUMMARY OF MY STUFF: KEXTs that I have found/patched and their meaning: > (S/L/E) VoodooPS2Controller.kext (1.1.0/1.1.2) = This is a "mixed" kext. I have used voodoops2controller.kext specific to resolve the key < > and than a VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext modded by slice for the ALPS touchpad (10.13) > (S/L/E) IONetworkingFamily.kext (1.9) = Found on http://www.insanelym...dpost&p=1353024 > (S/L/E) AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext (1.0.15) > (S/L/E) IOSDHCIBlockDevice.kext (1.0.0d1) = Old kext found on the web, that enable internal Card Reader (RICOH) without problems coping, formatting, ejecting!!! Good work > (S/L/E) VoodooHDA.kext (0.2.62) = Works great and internal MIC too > (S/L/E) VoodooPowerMini.kext (1.2.7) = Help to enable CPU Speedstepping > (S/L/E) FakeSMC.kext (4.2.0 rev. 612) = With these plugins: ACPISensors.kext, IntelCPUMonitor.kext, NVClockX.kext and I use its HWMonitor. > (S/L/E) AppleACPIPlatform.kext (1.3.5) = Under plugins directory I have placed the old AppleACPIThermal.kext (1.0.3). It blocks sleep/wake up functionality!!! > (S/L/E) AnyiSightCam.kext = I change idVendor and idProduct (in Dec) of my HP WebCam for testing pourpose. I have prepared a ZIP with all the necessary and uploaded it on OSX86.net at this link: http://www.osx86.net...do=file&id=3090 MY DSDT patched: I have extracted my DSDT and applied these fixes using DSDT Editor: - DTGP, FN, IOATAFamily FIX, IRQS, LPC, RTC, SMBUS, NEW-HPET, Shutdown Fx (Intel), Added PNLF and LCD fix http://www.insanelym...dpost&p=1580979 , USB and EHCI https://apocolipse.com/?p=14 , HDEF-PWR state for wake up, LID0, "windows 2006" fix SMBIOS.PLIST I have created one using Chameleon Wizard app starting from MacBook4,1 org.chameleon.Boot.plist <dict> <key>EnableC4State</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>-v npci=0x2000 darkwake=0</string> <key>SystemType</key> <string>2</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>Blackosx_Product_Box</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>3</string> <key>arch</key> <string>i386</string> </dict> Chameleon Version: Because Bildbot isn't working anymore (linked on Chameleon Wizard), I have installed the Built-in one: ver 2.1 svn r1819 without problems. Tested fine the 2.1 svn r2033 (by ifabio) from "dropbox" tab too. My 2 cents Pat P.S. 3. Hy Husaber, nice picture!!!! Could you please share your method to have a working LION on this model? Which kexts, DSDT etc have you used? Could you write a small miniguide in somewhere to help people? Thank you for your link from the "bay" about your DMG complete of all. I will try it when I will find a sata HDD to test. To be honest I don't like so much LION in particular way on our "old" kind of hardware. I haven't tested it on Lenovo but I have installed it on some HP. I have found this OS not so brillant as Snow Leopard and during some apps it was intricate. The same notebook with Snow Leopard 10.6.7 (not the 10.6.8) appears more ready and fast. For that reason I have tried directly with OSX 10.6.7 on lenovo T61. I would like to know if you can compare Snow Leopard and LION on this T61 and share your impressions..... Thank you Hi Jakes, model 7661 seems (from google) the same as mine and in particular way the graphics card is Intel. About your problems, please check boot with arguments: arch=i386 -v -f please post a picture of your KP so I can see something that you are not recognizing. If you are able, try to post a complete picture, in other words from the first line to the last one. VoodooPS2Controller is imcompatible with ApplePS2Controller.kext, appleacpips2nub.kext..... and similar (now I don't remember). Maybe you have one of them. if your problem seems to be VoodooPS2Controller, remove it and try to "consolidate" the OSX caches using something like: sudo kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions be sure to have USB mouse and USB Keyboard!!!! eh eh eh Let me know Pat
  4. Hi jitee, first of all I haven't an NC6400 ati vga version, but I think that it's almost the same hardware resource. Try to post here a picture of the variuos KP and at which step it appears. The main kexts that you need are: - AppleACPIPlatform.kext: original 10.7.3 kext that included under Plugins folder the AppleACPIThermal.kext from a tiger version. This plugins control the CPU fan to reduce itself based on temperature. Without this, my CPU FAN rotates always at maximum. - FakeSMC.kext: the most important one. This kext provided in my ZIP, it's an old one (ver. 2 or 3, I don't remeber now). You can quite use a newer FakeSMC from here http://www.projectos...findpost&p=7288 . I have update mine to 4.2 version with these other plugins: ACPISensors.kext, IntelCPUMonitor.kext by this way you could use HWMonitor.app too. - IONetworkingFamily.kext: kext that included under Plugins Folder the AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext which I have modified using an HEX editor for our Wired Lan ethernet port. For MAC address you will need to add it manually at every startup - IOPCIFamily.kext: a patched kext to enable the internal PCI addressing of south-bridge - Patched_10.7_AppleRTC.kext: I don't know exactly what it's meaning, but it appears on almost every Lion's guide!! - VoodooPowerMini.kext: this kext "enables" the SpeedSteep features without fix the DSDT part or enabling P/C states. - VoodooPS2Controller.kext: This kext enable TouchPad and Keyboard (not the trackpad) - VoodooHDA-2.6.2.pkg: it installs the VoodooHDA.kext and Voodoo pref panel. This is the only one that natively enable the internal MIC and 2 external jack without rebuild manually the codec. Install it and you are ok with the sound. IMPORTANT: it's INCOMPATIBLE with AppleHDA.kext and similar. Be sure to don't have any AppleHDA or other VoodooHDA under S/L/E before install it. The presence of AppleHDA or Azalia Kext, generate KP on start-up. If so, attach the HDD to another MAC and delete all audio Kext or try to start using '-s' or other way. Instead: - VoodooBattery.kext:it enables Battery ICON on menu bar. It's better to use AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext attached on my first post - IOPCMCIAFamily.kext, ApplePCCard16ATA.kext and ApplePCCardATA.kext are used ONLY for enable your PCMCIA slot and using a PCMCIA card Reader for SD you can manage your memory stick instead of internal Card Reader (Texas Instruments). Usually, the mistake is to boot in 64bit mode. Our notebook doesn't work in 64bit mode. Be aware!!!!. You must be sure to boot in 32bit (arch=i386) Regards Pat

  7. Hi Jitee, good work!!! MacBook info are stored in config.plist file. I have used MacBook 2,1 because this seems more near to my hardware. If Clover recognize your one better as 3.1 you can update Config.plist with new informations (u can use Chameleon Wizard to generate a good smbios.plist and then update Config.plist according to that). About DSDT, please replace in /EFI/ACPI/patched the DSDT.aml (intel VGA card) with other one that I have attached below (experimental DSDT with the same fixes but for NC6400 with ATI cards. It's Experimental because I haven't a NC6400 with ATI). By this way you should gain the Bluetooth device too (I don't see it from your picture). About the FAN, I had the same problem (high speed FAN rotation) till I have applied an old Kext from tiger: AppleACPIThermal.kext. This kext is located under Plugins folder of AppleACPIPlatform.kext. provided with my original ZIP (SLE.zip). I noticed that it works well when FakeSMC.kext (also the last 4.2.0 version), VoodooPowerMini.kext are loaded. All these kext together permit a good speedstep (and temperature control). I have noticed too that sometime they seem to be loaded but they are not completely, so I have tried to execute a rebuilding command from terminal after Kext Utility, something like this: sudo kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions About this please read: http://thedotnetter..../tag/kextcache/ In other words: - Use the DSDT attached below - If you want change your smbios.plist information (not so necessary) - Re-run Kext Utility - Launch the above command (to update and use right kext cache on startup boot procedure) - Reboot The EFI.zip provided some previous post is my working /EFI folder with the right cloveria. If you want. you can overwrite your one (created using Clover installer) and then replace the DSDT your your etc Let me know your experiences P.S. Please don't forget to partecipate to the thread poll. Pat nc6400_ati_aml_08122011.zip
  8. Hi JiTee, uhmm strange your notebook behavior!!!! 1) Have you MBR partition table? Right? 2) Could you please attach your: 'diskutil list' (as in my last post) 3) Could you please attach a screen-shot or report here which options you choose during Clover installation pakage? 4) Because of your VGA card (ATI and not Intel!!!) be sure to use the right DSDT. In my zip I have Intel version (not ATI). Maybe something related to that. 5) Which BIOS version has your notebook? 6) Have you used my EFI zipped on previous file? 7) I invite you to disable "Dual core" on BIOS instead of using cpus=1 Pat
  9. Hi senovr and thank you for your feedback!!!! About step 6 I invited you to read the linked thread about new clover: http://www.projectos...?showtopic=2304. For now it's "only" 27 pages. Anyway I follow that thread from the beginning and I have noticed that after the rev. 406, our notebook stop to boot normally. So pay attention to this. At this moment I have update the clover to rev. 430 (14.05.2012) without problems BUT I HAD TO OVERWRITE CLOVERIA32.efi with an old one (rev. 354) to be able to start with SNOW LEOPARD/LION. I have a "special" configuration on my HDD that it different from your. So I can tell you what I have done: MY SCENARIO: - HDD 500GB Momentus.4 7200rpm partitioned as follow: sh-3.2# diskutil list /dev/disk0 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: FDisk_partition_scheme *500.1 GB disk0 1: Apple_HFS SNOW-LEOPARD 108.0 GB disk0s1 2: Windows_NTFS WINXP-PRO 86.2 GB disk0s2 3: Windows_NTFS WINDOWS7 108.3 GB disk0s3 4: Apple_HFS LION 43.1 GB disk0s5 5: Windows_NTFS DATA 154.5 GB disk0s6 sh-3.2# As you can see I have MBR partition table instead of GPT. Partition 1,2,3 are primary and 4,5 are logical (over an extented one). Snow Leopard is on a primary and Lion on logical. The boot partition is marked on /dev/disk0s1 (Snow leopard) and here I have installed Clover. With this particular configuration, I am not able to boot Windows XP and Windows 7 using Clover (some strange screens similar to Kernel Panic). For that reason If I want to boot Snow Leopard or Lion I use Clover, but if I press the key '1' immediately after HP logo, it start Chameleon (always from Snow Leopard partition) and it shows me a menu for WinXP or Win7. By this way I can quite boot all four OS. The simple way to install Clover is using the .PKG provided from thread (olso the last one) and before restart the PC configure the /EFI folder according to the Slice documentation. I attach to this reply my /EFI folder in ZIP format. It's formally the rev. 430 with the CLOVERIA32.efi from rev. 354 Under /EFI/ACPI/patched I have put my DSDT.aml In /EFI/config.plist I have inserted the values to identify my NC6400 as MacBook2.1 (SMBIOS section). Enabled Graphics (Graphics section) and Inserted my Partiion NAME and Volume UUID for automatic boot procedure after timeout. The easy way to obtain these parameters is to launch from terminal: sudo diskutil info disk0sX (where 'X' means your OSX partition number). In my example will be: sh-3.2# diskutil info disk0s1 Device Identifier: disk0s1 Device Node: /dev/disk0s1 Part Of Whole: disk0 Device / Media Name: Untitled 1 Volume Name: =====> SNOW-LEOPARD <======================================= Escaped with Unicode: SNOW-LEOPARD Mounted: Yes Mount Point: / Escaped with Unicode: / File System: Journaled HFS+ Type: hfs Name: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Journal: Journal size 16384 KB at offset 0x327000 Owners: Enabled Partition Type: Apple_HFS Bootable: Not bootable Media Type: Generic Protocol: SATA SMART Status: Verified Volume UUID: =====> 13130871-39AC-35A6-8942-F4498EF90867 <================================= Total Size: 108.0 GB (108023250944 Bytes) (exactly 210982912 512-Byte-Blocks) Volume Free Space: 74.8 GB (74817933312 Bytes) (exactly 146128776 512-Byte-Blocks) Read-Only Media: No Read-Only Volume: No Ejectable: No Whole: No Internal: Yes Under /EFI/BOOT I have put the CLOVERIA32.efi that permits me to boot fine SL/LION on dual core mode without errors and edited refit.conf to set the initial timeout and theme. My 2 cent Pat P.S. - Please let me know if works with other configuration. For example GPT or last rev. (without overwrite cloveria or similar) - I remember that in some rare situation, dual core works ootb (natively) with not recent BIOS version of our NC6400. On projectOSX u will found a man in that situation. The problem is that with last firmware we have T7xxx CPU support!!!! EFI.zip
  10. By the picture I notice that you are using a DELL. Is it an external monitor attached to an HP NC6400 or a DELL notebook???? about arguments, stop chameleon boot process (pressing F8 or a key different from ENTER) on volume selection screen. Point the selector to your USB device and write using keyboard your arguments like below: arch=i386 -v Pay attention that the keyboard layout is American!!!!! Pat
  11. Hi Mystique38, try to start in 32bit! add arch=i386 Our notebook doesn't work well on 64bit. First of all there isn't a working kext for our GMA950 Graphics Card Let me know Pat

About Keyboard/touchpad maybe you have installed twice the kext (one in S/L/E and E/E) or you are triing to use ApplePS2 pacthed together with VoodooPS2. I have not idea about your issue.
