Hi there,

i "successfully" installed iDeneb v1.4 (Leopard 1.5.6) on the FSC amilo Ui 3520 netbook (which seems to be, by the way, a pretty good machine: only € 300,-, very bright non-glare screen, RAM "inofficially" upgradable to 2GB, expresscard 34)

the install worked after choosing the intel gma950 kext.

however, a lot of hardware (video (only 800x600 resolution at the moment), trackpad, keyboard, sleep/hibernate, wifi, sound, ethernet) does not work at the moment. can you advise me onto which kexts to install?

usb, exprescard34, firewire works fine.

and a general question: is there a way to use two-finger gestures on the synaptics trackpad?

here is the system information (from windows xp):

Hello. I have the very same netbook, so I'll try to help, but I'm wondering why you didn't used search.

Basically, this machine is pretty similar to other netbooks like MSI Wind. I installed OSX86 in dual-boot from XxX_x86_10.5.6_Install_Disc_Universal_Final.v2.iso (search on torrents), with vanilla kernel.

Problems I encountered:

1. Video. Used XxX install option for AA1/MSI Wind GMA950, works perfectly with QE/CI at full 1024x600. I think your issue could be solved by editing plists, just use search to find a method.

2. Sound. Works using this guide: http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/forum/t-101853...s-ugly-stop-gap , though this driver lacks mic/line-in support and there's no speakers/headphones autoswitching.

3. WLAN. Forget about built-in card and replace with Dell 1397 half-height adapter. I ordered mine from ebay, it's only $16 with free worldwide shipping.

4. Camera. Mine is BisonCam v.0.03, iChat works fine, Photo Booth only with TwistCam and 6-sec delay.

5. Touchpad. Working with scrolling and all using this: http://forums.msiwind.net/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=10109

6. Sleep/Hibernate. Didn't messed with that yet, just disabled for now.

7. Ethernet. Used XxX-included Realtek 1000 driver, works perfectly.

Everything other worked OOB with XxX.

Hope this helps, and please report if you find solution on camera, microphone and sleep isues.

P.S. After doing some more research, I'll probably write a guide to Genius Bar, so please check back periodically.

f355, thanks a lot for this info! the 3520 works pretty great with the XxX installation, i really owe you one!

Since I'm not too experienced, I could not find out too much about power management/sleep/battery display until now, so any new information in this field is eagerly anticipated,

best,

geb

in short: make sure that cam is turned on (in windows if you have dual-boot, if no, try livecd or something else) and check if your usb works correctly and cam is shown in system profiler.

then iChat should work without any additional actions, but Photo Booth will only show black square.

you can workaround that by installing and running app called camtwist (can be found easily in google), but you'll experience 6 sec delay.

for additional info read this topic on msiwind forums: http://forums.msiwind.net/osx-software/bis...sion-t6688.html

hope this helps.
