Can't see where he said "I own the site, but the server provider demands ads"... Maybe actually read your replies...

Is there ever a time where you're not a condescending {censored}?? I was trying to figure out what was going on, I can obviously read but unfortunately, not very well, as this site {censored} hurts my eyes. My point was more to what the hell are the donations for, if not for providing an ad free experience? There's no way this server costs more than donations it receives, otherwise maybe they should switch servers. Also, seems like it is their own server, so there probably is not even a very high cost. Plus I don't give a {censored} who owns the site, my entire point is why the {censored} is there ads that, at least for me, completely kill the entire experience of this website. They also cause a huge delay in loading the page. If I turn off my ad blocker, the site takes minutes to load, there's a still a noticeable delay with it on. Trying to look at multiple pages of a topic is pretty much useless because it gets stuck trying to load ads constantly with the page grayed out behind.

The InsanelyMac.com is a property of Fubra they own the whole site.

But I'm with you on the ads and the donations we made to cover the costs, but it seems that the donations are not enough.

I find it far more likely they cover the costs fine and use the ads to make more money. But little do they know that it is causing the site to act slower than hell, and the ads take up most of the real estate of the page. Which annoys pretty much every one I've talked to who uses the site, except for apparently DF, who is fine with ads. He loves them, said he wanted an entire forum with only ads and no content - easier for him to follow mindlessly. Oh, my favorite part is when they are videos that auto play and are louder than what I'm currently watching/listening. So great. Where is a dark/night theme? Because I need a theme that is easier on my eyes and I know I'm not the only one who does....

Sure, such as when I'm talking to people that aren't.

May I propose not giving the voluntary {censored} who I have seen working his ass off for free over the past years, then?

@apianti Yes there's ads and it makes irritation, but the problem of loading page has gone, the pages are loading instantly. I don't have your skills, but i think you just have to see if the problem is not somewhere, i always use safari, and as you can see in the screen recording bellow i don't use ad block, and it just loads up the pages just fine with only ADSL 12Mbps!

I think we just have to enjoy this site, because it doesn't have it's double

The site is owned by Fubra, so they are the ones responsible for choosing ads, as well as providing hosting and technical support. I have no involvement in any financial decisions whatsoever, but I do know that ads/donations do not bring enough to run the site as we'd like :/

I'm spending a little bit each day patching things up - hopefully keeping things going in the right direction. I haven't had too much issue with the site performance for the past couple days, but there is still much work to be done in that area I agree. I haven't noticed any scrolling issue, and my laptop turned 9 years old this month :p

I would like to repeat my request.

Add a Favicon to the website. That way, the bookmark to insanelymac looks more appealing.

I'm not seeing this, I have one myself?

In safari you have add bookmarks from the menu bar or just click the plus that appears on the address bar to add it to the reading list

I am encountering a new issue. I have enabled notifications support in Safari. When I click a Safari notification, the notifications button in the website stops working. I have to reload the page for it to work again.

Okay, thank you, sorry if I was short with you but I asked you not someone else and it's annoying....

I am having long load times...

I am seeing insane block boxes everywhere, with or without ad blocker. I've attached a few examples.

EDIT: Is there anyway to remove the ads for donors and developers or something? Since they have obviously been contributing to this community?

The site is unusable for me entirely. It takes minutes for pages to load and random black boxes appear every where while scrolling. Apparently if there are any when I started typing, they move around. I have 100Mbps internet, every other site loads in an instant, not even noticeable, and I'm copying 48GB to cloud drive and streaming in 1080p. I only see these boxes on this site. The problem is insanelymac.

I know your problem has taken long since the big update, from your first post here on for this issue!

I think it’s related to your browser, i don’t have same ads like you, but for sure it’s insanelymac problem, just deal with that until fixing it!

I have shame because i still haven’t donated yet, but if i donate and when I have money it will be for the love of this website.

I would say it's related to the browser too but it happens in chrome, firefox, and edge.... I haven't tried it in safari. And only happens on insanelymac. I think it has to do with pages that have attachments. Because this page does not seem to do it but going to the previous page, it checkerboards the whole page randomly right away.

I didn't mean that you should have to donate but I think that getting rid of ads might be a pretty good incentive to donating though or actively supporting this entire community. Also I think that devs and mods should not have ads either since without them this site probably wouldn't be as good.

It's possible it's related to the scrolling ad, but I'm not entirely sure - I haven't been able to reproduce this at all.

My loading times are a bit up and down, sometimes unusable, sometimes it works

i confirm from my desktop to, on safari and google chrome i only have 3 ads, one on the top of the page and two others on the right side of the page, but nothing intenpestive, and one video ad between the first post and the second, it stay there and doesn't follow when scroling, only one ad follow the screen when scroling, the third on the bottom. Loading pages are in the same speed as for other websites, maybe @apianti you work on toohigh resolution screen i think?

I have two 1080p displays, I used to have three but I accidentally knocked by my 27" over and it cracked the led backlight... I can confirm it only happens on pages with attachments. I went through the site and the pages without attachments are fine, with attachments I get black boxes.

My load times are are abysmal. Currently there are less than 500 people using the site and it takes a noticeable amount of time for each page to load. On the contrary, I can go to any other website and it loads without pause in milliseconds. This site takes seconds to load, that's a huge difference.... I keep getting timeouts and bad gateway errors too because the load time is so long.

Me? This is in Windows 10.... So no.

EDIT: Probably the most annoying thing is it takes forever to save a comment/edit, this comment took two minutes and twelve seconds to save. Unsure how long this edit will take.

EDIT2: Of course that edit took only five seconds..... Blah.
