JaS OSx86 10.5.4 Client Server Intel SSE2 SSE3 released

apowerr

JaS's latest DVD comes with the following release notes:

Finally after much hard work and effort, repackaging / cutting driver to have the most stable release I could, along with months of hard work my version of OS X for Intel based systems is ready. This release features upgrading from the customize installation menu along with StageXNU (SSe2 SSe3 kernel thx everyone in xnu-chat for keeping older hardware alive with this great kernel) , NVKush (thx Diabolik) , chameleon (thx zef & Kabyl), SMBIOSResolver (thx Superhai), SMBIOS (thx iGuru) The whole range of Radeon HD Series drivers (thx netkas and lastExile). HDA drivers (thx Taruga) Along with the standard drivers usually found in other leopard install dvds. This release does not include any apps/mods to the UI. Also this is a OS X 10.5.4 Server (thx for the packages f41qu3 and SJobs) / Client installation dvd. Installation of Server will require a valid serial that I have not included. The base for this release was built with slipstream (thx Dense). DVD art by Realityiswhere.

Thanks to everyone over at irc.osx86.hu , irc.moofspeak.net , hackint0sh.org , insanelymac , and osx86scene.

Remember the point of this is to have some fun and learn a bit if we can. Also to help each other out, remember " no one left behind that can be supported" this is our motto and our creed.

JaS's releases are renowned for their high quality, and no doubt this one will continue the trend. Good luck installing everyone, I know I can't wait ;)

EDIT: Got a screenshot of the Installer options, looks very complete with a plethora of drivers. Nice work! -REVENGE

NO this is a legit 10.5.** retail copy of OS X Server with Disks boxed and bought by my company from a Large UK Wholesaler so yes it's legit

On another note maybe it is relevent the "collecting system Information "window that appears with the server system when you boot, never actually stops gathering data but the "continue" button appears anyway, is this another symptom of the same problem ??

Network connections not established, maybe?

So guys I hate to say it but it seems that my internet is going to go down tonight, can't say when I will have the money to bring it back up. Times are tough for me these days. Any work that needs to be done will have to wait till I can return. My guess is maybe 4-6 weeks. This is why I tried to stay up so long and get the ppf done before that happened.

Sorry to let you guys down.

I want to say thanks to the user that sent me the donation, tho they want to keep their identity a secret the donation put me at about 25% of the way up to keep my net on. So a big thanks to you. you know who you are !!

Did it, got to:

Mac OS version:

not set yet

Kernel version:

Darwin Kernel version 9.2.0: [date and time]; made by ToH:xnu-1228/build/obj/release_i386

And it stopped. Does that mean the kernel won't work on my machine?

Ouch-o. That means you likely got a kernel panic (which means it won't work; I got the same error). Switching to the other kernel choice works (but I have to boot from the DVD, but read from the HD).

Still (even with the quibbles), nice work, JaS.

from what someone was telling me if you partition the drive on boot error, if you erase it you get one, tho I don't know how this happens as I was not able to repro the boot issue. I was going to make some changes tho to fix it in the ppf I am working on.

I hope I can get it finished in time ...

For some rather odd reason, I have neither keyboard or mouse control when booting from the HD (though the system will boot from it); when booting from the DVD (but reading from the HD) I have keyboard and mouse control (but my graphics and audio drivers won't load); are different PS/2 kexts the reason for this? (Both keyboard and mouse are PS/2.)

Will the planned ppf be installable from a system booting from the DVD to allow a proper (post-install) HD boot (with working PS/2 support)?

Just want to address a few issues here real fast. It is late and I have been working on a ppf patch for the iso for 14 hours straight now.

The boot issue for some users should be fixed with this ppf. It is not a wide spread issue so the limited test group I had did not experience this.

Proper working ps/2 support will be fixed.

GMA and X3100 support will be added.

ATI HD Series scrambled screen will be fixed with the ppf.

NVKush failing was not the drivers it was an issue with a postfligh and will also be fixed with the patch release.(work around for now is only use one word names for the hdd)

AMD Support will also be added into the patch.

I have to get some rest.

Ohhh also about the user with newer hardware running into the iobuffers lockup I can fix this but it will have to be in a specialized patch just for this issue.

Hey JaS,

...how much would you need donated in Euro or $US? All the guys here are using your release and demanding for the PPF (including me) but none of them has asked how to help the process. If it helps to rise some money for you - let's do it. If everyone here sends you 10 Euro by PayPal, everything should run out smoothly, right?

I'll start right now - just PN me the Email-address you are registered with at PayPal.

Regards,

Mike

I'd absolutely be willing to donate towards keeping your Internet on, if possible. Your releases have always been the best in the scene.

I don't know how much I could donate, but I think every little bit helps.

What's the best SMBIOS option? I'm a little confused by it, because of the SMBIOS Resolver application, and the fact that all the other SMBIOS options are showing 0 as their size. Am I supposed to chose the resolver and something else?

JaS: This is just a request. Is there any way you can add support for 9 series cards? Like the 9800GTX, 9800GTX+, and 9800GX2. NVKush doesn't have them working without the white menu problem (Or at least not on my 9800GTX+). I know aqua-mac got them working, and it'd be great to see his implementation. I have 2 9 series cards, and it'd be great to not need to edit everything each time I re-install

Whenever I try and boot up using the CD, to start the installation, I get this error:

"Still waiting for root device"

I've read around, and found it could be down to an IDE drive. My DVD-RW drive is IDE. But that's never affected any other installation DVD's EVER!

Kalyways & iAtkos released have always worked.

I've also removed all USB devices, but i'm still getting the same error!

Could it be a faulty disk ?

Can someone/anyone help me?

Can you pm me your Paypal information. It will be a shame to have used your releases without giving anything back.

@ The Epic One:

Make sure your DVD-drive is set as Master, not slave. Also check your jumper(s) (don't know if you're using multiple dvd/cd drives?) on your drives. Hope this helps..

Another question for the rest; I've installed this great release on my Acer Travelmate 430, and finally got it to work properly. I've only got one problem, USB devices are not recognized, only when they're inserted before booting. I've tried both IOUSBFamily.kext, but no luck with that. I know it could be kernel-related, but both StageXNU and 9.2.0 Sleep do not solve the problem. Anyone knows how to fix this?

---------------

Acer Travelmate 430, Intel P4 3.0 Ghz - only SSE2!

Intel ICH4

Hi JaS,

I have a Toshiba Satellite S2450-401. P4 2.8 Northwood, GeForce4 420 Go (32mb).

The DVD boots correctly, after displaying the ethernet address, it stops for about 2 minutes (during which I can type anything with keyboard). Then it loads something and hangs where it should (I think) display the gui. Maybe some graphic card incompatibility?

I remember that I had the same problem after installing leo4allv3 patched with chameleon, but in that case the setup loaded fine unlike this.

Here's a screenshot:

Why is it that people insist on inserting HUGE images in the post, why not try and keep the thread somewhat clean and "attach" the file rather than insert it. its a high resolution image that's almost completely out of focus... :)
