JaS's latest DVD comes with the following release notes:

Finally after much hard work and effort, repackaging / cutting driver to have the most stable release I could, along with months of hard work my version of OS X for Intel based systems is ready. This release features upgrading from the customize installation menu along with StageXNU (SSe2 SSe3 kernel thx everyone in xnu-chat for keeping older hardware alive with this great kernel) , NVKush (thx Diabolik) , chameleon (thx zef & Kabyl), SMBIOSResolver (thx Superhai), SMBIOS (thx iGuru) The whole range of Radeon HD Series drivers (thx netkas and lastExile). HDA drivers (thx Taruga) Along with the standard drivers usually found in other leopard install dvds. This release does not include any apps/mods to the UI. Also this is a OS X 10.5.4 Server (thx for the packages f41qu3 and SJobs) / Client installation dvd. Installation of Server will require a valid serial that I have not included. The base for this release was built with slipstream (thx Dense). DVD art by Realityiswhere.

Thanks to everyone over at irc.osx86.hu , irc.moofspeak.net , hackint0sh.org , insanelymac , and osx86scene.

Remember the point of this is to have some fun and learn a bit if we can. Also to help each other out, remember " no one left behind that can be supported" this is our motto and our creed.

JaS's releases are renowned for their high quality, and no doubt this one will continue the trend. Good luck installing everyone, I know I can't wait ;)

EDIT: Got a screenshot of the Installer options, looks very complete with a plethora of drivers. Nice work! -REVENGE

For your keyboard, i had the same problem, if your mouse is working, put inside the JAS DVD.

then go to:

system>installation>packages>patches:

from there found the file named -> ApplePS2Controller.pkg

install it and then it should work.

Hope it works for you.

for me it worked

Everything running smooth and seeding on my:

Dell i9300 SSE2

dell wireless 1450

nvidia 6800go

Thanks JAS and all the development team =)

I keep getting an error towards the end of installation, have tried it on 2 different machines (both with nvidia graphics)

The error is:

The following install step failed: run postflight script for NVKush.

Anyone have any idea if it is a dud burn of the iso or a dud download? or something else?

We're getting the same error on a:

Core Duo E4600 2.4GHz

NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE

Motherboard: MSI P35 Neo-F (ICH9 Chipset) (ALC888 Sound)

SATA hard drive and SATA DVD

Hi, thank you for the suggestion. I tried but it didn't work for me.

Finally, I found the solution by the PS2Fix1054 by pcwiz. The original is here:

Hope it will help for similar situations.

Intel Pentium Northwood 2.6

Mobo? HP Compaq d230 (Lite-On)

ATI Radeon x1650 Pro AGP 512MB

1 Gb RAM

Installation was smoothly. I enable the ATI 1600 AGP driver and AGPGart from the instillation option menu.

When try to restart, i enter within start-reboot loop.

Try with -v, the system is unable to load the graphic driver and restart-starting, load Darwin, then two lines and reboot itself.

Thanks anyway-your releases JaS was always good.

k...still dont know the md5 hash. i d/ld from the green machine and have a md5 of f7e82424d6efb474950b361db7840c91.

is this correct...are we all on the same page?

by the way, this is a KICKASS release. installed flawlessly w/o ANY error or permission fix on my dell 755 quad...

I'm having a couple of problems...first I get an error in the installer whenever I try to install the nvidia drivers. I don't know what's caused that, so I've put it off for now and will probably end up needing to screw around with drivers anyway because of my card (8800GS 384mb).

but the biggest problem is that it will install, but when I try to boot I get a message saying "boot1: error". From what I've found, this is definitely a bootloader problem, and might have something to do with my Intel ICHx SATA functionality...not sure? I've tried screwing around with install settings, but no luck! :(

UPDATE: I've been able to get over the issue after tinkering around with it...I think the fix was installing the JMicron drivers. not sure tho, not even sure if my board had a JMicron chipset (I'm probably wrong)...I saw a few other people with different solutions that had the same problem.

Just want to address a few issues here real fast. It is late and I have been working on a ppf patch for the iso for 14 hours straight now.

The boot issue for some users should be fixed with this ppf. It is not a wide spread issue so the limited test group I had did not experience this.

Proper working ps/2 support will be fixed.

GMA and X3100 support will be added.

ATI HD Series scrambled screen will be fixed with the ppf.

NVKush failing was not the drivers it was an issue with a postfligh and will also be fixed with the patch release.(work around for now is only use one word names for the hdd)

AMD Support will also be added into the patch.

I have to get some rest.

Ohhh also about the user with newer hardware running into the iobuffers lockup I can fix this but it will have to be in a specialized patch just for this issue.

So, I installed it on an external HD, and the Installation was like Magic. It installed the x3100 automatically at the beginning, and I only had to choose the Kernel (Stage XNU) at the Customize Screen. System also works great, my Drive was shown up, Sleep/Restart/Shutdown works, x3100 works, System is fast too.

BUT: The Keyboard doesn't work, so I wanted to fix this with my Kexts (They all worked in every Distro). I installed it with KextHelper, Install looks fine, etc., Reboot and....nothing...it gets stuck at this:

using 10485 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers

Nothing happens after that...I installed the whole system three times...same ever...So can somebody say me what went wrong? Is that here the problem:

Ohhh also about the user with newer hardware running into the iobuffers lockup I can fix this but it will have to be in a specialized patch just for this issue.

JaS

When this is the problem, then It's strange, because this only happens if I install the Kexts...Have I to wait for an patch?

Is there a way to alter the order in which things are installed? The optional languages tend to behave badly if they're not installed right after the OS - in some cases, they get installed after the 10.5.4 update.

Hi Jas,

If it's not too late, i would like to suggest you to include the TSC sync XNU kernel, witch fix dual core issue on many "old" dell laptops.

Here the topic's link with prepatched kernels:

I just got the iso, booted it, went through setup fine.

On first boot without the cd I get "boot1: error" and with the cd it eventually gets to a dark gray screen (after the apple boot logo) with just the pointer and it doesn't go any further.

Also of note, under boot option (F8) I only have one option and I'm pretty sure it's the cd drive.

This is all after the installation was "successful."

I have an Asus P5P800 SE (which is a 865pe chipset, ICH5), 3GHz Intel (non-core, prescott i think), 6200 nvidia agp. I'm pretty sure I selected all the correct packages but I can't seem to get anywhere... Any words of advice?

JaS: Can you add the restart and shutdown fixes as a installation option. I have this install working now and this is something that should be there in my opinion.

Also, your installer uses and older version of Chameleon. Maybe this is something that can be added in the update as well.

Still think the documentation could be slight more elaborate but still...GREAT release.

Yeah I know how everyone feels, I've installed it about 50 times today but I've managed to get everything sussed pretty much. Only issue I'm having is after install the system doesn't boot after restart, it gets to a grey screen and I have to take the install disc and reset machine but once it boots up it then shows post-install video etc. Other problems I've got are the NVKush more than one word partition name issue and the PS/2 issue but these are general issues that JaS should have fixed in the patch release =) so overall not too bad.

i am having the same problem. i insert my valid key. and i can't get past that

I am thinking maybe it needs a network connection, OS X server sets that up on install so maybe that is a bug, not so much a phone home as a network setup routine, I can't get my network working on my MSI P4M900M3

Right at the beginning of installation i get this:

2uji438.jpg

I tried installing the Client version as i don't need the Server features, tried it 3 times with different kernels and various install options and formatted my hard drive 3 times, but i still get this screen. My BIOS settings should be fine because i haven't changed anything since successfully installing Kalyway 10.5.2, Leo4All v3, and the new iDeneb 10.5.4...

Maybe the img could be corrupted? Can anyone suggest any free windows app for verifying the MD5 checksum plz?

Hi everybody.

I try to install on a acer travelmate 290 laptop with intel 855GM chipset, centrino mobile 1,4 GHz SSEE2.

The installation finish ok but in the first boot i see this message with -v mode.

Anybody has an idea?

Thanks

Ok, first of all, I assume you've installed the correct kernel etc! If not, I can't help you from here.

Most likely, you'll get a "still waiting for root device" error after a while. I had the same thing, but "fixed" it for now.

1. Boot up the cd, and start up terminal. Don't install anything!!

2. Type "diskutil list" (without the quotes)

Ouput will be something like this:

Mac:~ User$ diskutil list
/dev/disk0
  #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
  0: GUID_partition_scheme *698.6 Gi disk0
  1: EFI 200.0 Mi disk0s1
  2: Apple_HFS Time Machine 500.0 Gi disk0s2
  3: Apple_HFS Video 198.2 Gi disk0s3
/dev/disk1
  #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
  0: GUID_partition_scheme *698.6 Gi disk1
  1: EFI 200.0 Mi disk1s1
  2: Apple_HFS Leopard 300.0 Gi disk1s2
  3: Apple_HFS Data 100.0 Gi disk1s3
  4: Apple_HFS Imaging 200.0 Gi disk1s4
  5: Apple_HFS Audio 97.9 Gi	disk1s5

As you can see, my Leopard partition is /dev/disk1s2. Now reboot, and again boot the cd, but press F8 before it starts. Type "rd=diskXsY" (replace X and Y with your real part. numbers, like my 1 and 2 before. Now it should boot your Leopard installation.

I still can't boot from HDD, only from CD like this, though I've set my partition as active etc. Anyone knows what to do next?

Hi. The first time i have the still waiting for root device. It solves select ICHX from chipset and device identification (I have ICH4)

I dont have any error while the restart and the computer freeze just when all the kext are loaded and the os should start.

Its very incomprenssible...

We all have to wait for the ppf-Patches...one for Buxfixing and Updating and the one for Iobuffers lockup...hope they comes soon...

Just an update on the ppf that is being made.

Today JaS is going to be doing the finishing touches on the ppf file and finishing up the testing on it. Than he is going to release his ppf to add AMD support and the other fixes he is going to fix

stand by for a ppf release for this great release by JaS

Edit: it worked, my god, it worked. audio and video need to be fixed but i think i can manage that.. ultimate.zephyr, thank you so much, you're a huge help =]

If I ever get up to trying to install osx on this old laptop (ati chipset, doubt it), i know who i'll be pming for support!

Thank you so much again, really.
