Hi peeps, installed yesterday and after a bit of fiddling got everything working. Had to swap my hard-drives so the OS X install was on the first sata cable. My mobo is an Asrock Conroe 1333-D667, 4GB ram, Nvidia 8800GT Alpha Dog graphics card, E-67500 2core duo. Had to select 9.4.0 kernal and osx86 boot-loader with non efi. Lost QE/CI but got it back using nvinstaller. System seems a lot faster than Aitkos v2. Only scare I had was when I transfered my settings and folders using Time Machine back-up, it hung on the very last transfer of network settings, had to do a hard re-start but luckily everything had transfered ok, phew! Am seeding now. Thanks guys!

I am stuck at "waiting for root device". What does that mean?

I have a SATA hard drive which houses Vista SP1 and 2 IDE hard drives to where i installed iATKOS v4i.

The most success comes from Kalyway release but unfortunately my graphics card which is a ASUS EN9600GT does not have support at the moment furthermore the sound is not working therefore i decided to give iATKOS a spin.

Do you think i should install to the SATA drive instead of IDE drives?

Regards.

i got that "waiting for root dev" when i first tried to burn a copy of iatkos and kalyway. after getting those errors, i downloaded "imageburn" to burn the copies and i have gotten that error since. try buring at 1x

Tried to install on mine. Disk utility can't find my SATA hd's. Not sure what the issue is, Kalyway 10.5.2 installs fine. iATOKS v4i can't due to not seeing my SATA's

Installed over an aitkos V2 install... Everything went fine, but now my password doesn't work. To make things worse, the padlock is shut on all the system preferences. I booted from the cd and used the password reset tool, but that doesn't seem to have worked ... any ideas? Does it have a password built in?

Thanks in advance!

First off here are my specs:

Motherboard: Asus P5W Deluxe

CPU: Intel Code 2 Duo 2.2ghz

RAM: 2x2GB (4GB total)

Video Card: MSI 8800GT 512MB PCI-e

Hard Drive: Samsung 250GB SATA

Optical Drive: Shutte DVD-RW DL IDE

Sound: On Board/ Realtek ALC882M

LAN: On Board/ Marvell 88E8053 (wifi on board not used, using cat-5)

Does anyone have a list of the exact options I should be choosing? I have tried installing this about 15-20 times. I actually got it to work once, but I can't remember the options I choose (I know, that's my fault).

The reason I need to install it again was while the video card was working, I was not getting full hardware support, nor was I getting Quartz Extreme support. Ultimately I would like to get all of that working, but at this point, I just want to get this installed on a minimal level at this point. Can anyone advise what options I should use to get this installed?

Thanks in advance.

I've got an Abit AB9 Pro that I had working with Kalyway 10.5.2, and I just tried to install this. I'm getting the waiting for root device errors as well, even tried switching SATA mode to IDE. I guess I'll try burning at 1x

You people are lucky as I'm still running iAtkos v1.0ir2 and still downloading iAtkos v2.0i which is at 93% now and i've just started downloading iAtkos v4.0i which is at 5.6% and all of them I have had to downloaded at slow speeds of under 10KB/s and oddly I always upload three times the amount of the original in most cases.

How am I lucky? I'm locked out of my system!!!!

Why do you have to d/l at 10KB/s and under?

It took a lot of messing around (it always does) to get everything up and running, but so far this is the best install of OSx86 I have gotten on my hackintosh so far. EFI v8, vanilla kernel, wireless/audio detected immediately... the only issue was getting my graphics card recognized. Once I added the appropriate EFI strings for my GS7900, everything was working perfectly.

Is the vanilla kernel installed automatically with iATKOS 4.0 ?

When I meant lucky I was talking to everybody who has downloaded and 10KB/s is cos I can afford a data bundle as I don't earn an income(even when I do I save it for upgrades on my pc) and so I use my phone which runs on GPRS and it aint even EDGE enabled.

Anyone getting immediate kernel panics upon the first boot up like I am? I have a Compaq C751NR laptop, which so far Iatkos's previous releases worked perfectly fine with before. But so far it seems like this is not the best option unless Kalyway releases a 10.5.4 sometime. Anyone in general getting this issue?

Thanks,

ZB

I got it going, I just had to not install the PS2 Patch and it worked, but the issue I have that sucks...my cpu fan doesn't run on my laptop...installed many other powermanagement kexts with no luck yet.

ok got it installed but as usual the sound is not working plus my ASUS EN9600GT 512mb graphics card not working too. Oh well guess this would be an opportunity to explore Mac OSX.

Perhaps i would just wait until 9600GT graphics is supported. For now got to enjoy!!

Thank you.

Is it possible to use the Apple Software Update to update?

I already tried the Remove Thermal Kexts option, tried Stock Kernel, TOH Kernel, and stock ACPI kernels, and so far no go with the cpu fan being off. Sucks really considering that everything works perfectly but that.

I have it up and running on a P5K Vanilla motherboard. I am pleased with it. Had to put my OS X drive and CD drive on the first SATA channel to get it installed. Trying to figure out how to get it to recognize the second SATA channel. Maybe some kexts from Kalyway 10.5.2 install may fix this problem.

I have installed today, but I have black windows:

On Leo4All the "Graphics Update" had fixed this issue. But on iATKOS I cannot install the Graphics Update from Apple, because the OS is already on 10.5.4.

Any ideas?

Downloaded and installed on my Dell Inspiron 1720 pc, same problem with 2.0, I can see half of the screen only because the other half (the right one), the screen resolution seems to be twice the selected one on the system preferences

Dell Inspiron 1720

Dual Core 2 Duo

2GB RAM

120 GB HDD

Intel GMA X3100

Can anyone help with this?

Finally selected the proper options for my setup.

Asus P5GD1-FM/S

P4 630 @ 3.0GHz

3GB RAM

eVGA Geforce 7300GT 128MB

Linksys WMP54GS Wireless

Seagate 160GB SATA HD

DVD-RAM Drive (PATA, can't remember brand)

Options selected:

Darwin X86 Bootloader for MBR

NVInject 128MB

ToH 9.2.0 Kernel

Additional SATA Drivers

Remove Thermal Kexts

I spent forever trying to get past the "Still waiting for root device" error, of course I didn't take note of the options I selected for each install, so that probably slowed me down a bit, but oh well. Wireless works, wired LAN works, audio works, firewire detected but untested as yet, SATA works, detects both SATA hard drives, PATA DVD-RAM drive works.

All I can say is that the post-install music with 10.5.4 is CRAZY {censored}.
