also i can boot when the NVMeGeneric kext is in clover kext folder its give me instant kernel panic, can i load it without this kext ?

Best to avoid NVMeGeneric.kext. Install an M.2 PCIe AHCI such the Samsung SM951/AHCI or a M.2 SATA (such as Samsung 850 EVO).

i Only have an 950 Pro NVMe :(

with the new Mac OS Sierra is there a native NVMe driver or still no support for it ?

Currently The 950 pro work well with MacOS El Capitan and clover install on it, but since the NVMeGeneric kext is loaded to i get instant KP so the best options for me its to disable loading this kext for the Sierra partition can you help me doing that ?

Thank you

If you don't have NVMeGeneric.kext, you won't be able to boot your system on the SSD, right?

I would sell the 950 Pro and purchase an SM951/AHCI. The performance difference is negligible.

I'm using it as storage

It works ok as a storage drive (doing the same thing here... sometimes).

But using it as a boot drive is a whole different ball game...

I am using it as boot drive and no issue so far except its not detected as NVMe or PCiexpress but as external storage

But there are other issues (I guess you haven't noticed):

- it shows as external due to describing its location as "Internal/External" in ioreg.

- reboot due to panic on restart or shutdown

- intermittent delays/pauses after wake from sleep

- panic on startup with certain systems (I2C related, remove or disable AppleHPM.kext)

- it is not marked OSBundleRequired=Root, so you cannot install it to /S/L/E or /L/E

I created a patch for the internal vs. external issue... (it is in my config_nuc6.plist in my NUC github project)

You can fix the OSBundleRequired=Root bug:

/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :OSBundleRequired string" NVMeGeneric.kext/Contents/Info.plist
/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set :OSBundleRequired Root" NVMeGeneric.kext/Contents/Info.plist
The other ones, no fix for yet...

I had those two issues even with external but after installing the 10.11.6 beta no problem so far :D no more kernel panic and wake from sleep work well but since i have a corsair H110i GTX i can't put my hackintosh on sleep my self cause the usb of the pump keep waking it up

When 10.11.6 is released, I'll probably drop the 950 NMVe back into my NUC6 and see what happens. Since the delay after wake is intermittent, it is a little hard to say it is fixed if you're not actually sleeping the computer on a regular basis (intermittent problems require long term/persistent testing).

The I2C/AppleHPM.kext induced KP seems more prevalent on laptops where such I2C hardware is more common.

yeah it can't sleep unfortunately is there a Clover patch to deal with the issue of the pump ? its checking continuously the temps i think and to monitor it its always keep waking up the Hackintosh since its need information from the usb header :(

P.S : Your patch work just did it right now and my ssd is detected as internal PCI SSD.

I have another question i installed fakesmc hwmonitor and all its plugin but its dont show the fan rpm so i can't control them from hackintosh but from windows via Asus AiSuite i can, what did i need to do to make my case fan silent on hackintosh ?

Thanks for taking your time to help me RehabMan =D

Chances are you have no software to interpret the results coming from that device, so you don't need the port enabled. Disable it by not injecting it...

Yes... it is a very obvious/easy to create sort of patch... (string replacement).

Perhaps your BIOS has some options for fan control...

How do i target the port and disable it ? can you explain how ?

On my bios its on silent but the noise is controlable via Windows not on hackintosh its drive me crazy ! how can i save the result from windows and boot in hackintosh with no noise ?

P.S : Thanks for the patch BTW i am not a programmer just some random guy who like to search and experiment :P

There are quite a few guides for USB customization. Personally, I use USBInjectAll.kext + an SSDT to customize it.

Unfortunately, you would need to know how your fan is controlled, and then write some code for it (I did it for the HP ProBook/EliteBook series, for example).

Unless someone has already accomplished it (and written it up), it would require skills...

do you mean you do not see it more as an external but as internal?

You use on slot PCIe external or M2 on mainbord?

Wich main have you?

Disconnect the Pump usb, that connection is useless on OS X, there aren't OS X versions of Corsair applications so why you keep the Pump usb connected?

Hello,

I keep the usb header because i use it in Windows i have a dual boot with my Hackintosh so the best option is to disable this specific usb header.

Great patch again RehabMan now the kext is no more in EFI/Clover/Kext but in S/L/E :D

Intel 4600 installation stopped at apple logo with a empty non-moving bar under the apple logo..used -v mode. Everything seems to be fine before the logo showed up.

I know it's the issue with intel 4600 ..please share how to bypass this and get the install going.thanks.

can you attached here IONVMeFamily.kext from 10.11.6 ?

This is a very strange that work perfect with 11.6 , ( you are a very lucky person  :lol:Apple has no kext for NVME Industry standard.

It has AppleNVME that is not NVME.  PCIClass code is different , They are different devices, and one driver will not work for another because of registers and protocols

PS: here of corse work perfect only with yose 10.5 , whyle with El no ( work only with 11.3 without kP)

@ You agree Reahbman???

I think JustAnotherPUser was trying to say that some of the problems in NVMeGeneric.kext are fixed in 10.11.6.

Personally, I have my doubts... (I'll test it when 10.11.6 is released).

My doubts are confirmed. "appear a lot less" and "haven't tested it" does not imply "fixed".
