(MoC)
Well, as any teenager here in this digital world, I decided to join one of these social communities. Well, I was thinking about facebook, but then again, MySpace was the most "popular" at the time so I flocked to their userbase and in minutes I had an account. It felt, well, felt nothing. I got some people I knew to add me to their friend's list so I can see how the damn thing works. I did the whole process of making a profile and the 9 yards of their cheap CSS and HTML layouts that make you want to cry. So far so good, so I stayed a week or two and started to experience how they communicate. I couldn't understand anything that was said. It was all like spam, and I mean the infective type. Simple display names were "pimped" by some wannabe morons in my friends list. Just look below: It looks like some of them are normal, but most of them are on the failboat. Was that enough to drive me crazy? Well, almost, almost. Wait, I still had to comment! That's when I really decided to go nuts. You couldn't do anything; I mean, your browser window was overloaded with forced music and crappy HTML which made scrolling look like I was on a 486. The comments also composed of half assed HTML "<img src" tags. Look: It wasn't only that, it was also a plethora of idiotic bulletins. You couldn't read one without the it going like "OWNED YOU WILL DIE IF YOU DO NOT POST......". It drove me nuts, but thank God it wasn't my PM box. Just look at some of the crappy ideas made by these idiots: Lastly, PMs were weird. Some people PMd me to say the put new pics of themselves on their profile while some kept trying to scare me by making me force to post some threat that involves a {censored} with red eyes coming to lynch me in the middle of the night from my closet. Some also were weird ASCII art attempts that were basically people looking for 30 minutes how to make larger type font in html and make {censored} with the parenthesis and two periods or "o"s. Overall it was hell, and now I am going away from the site. Maybe I'll try and get myself banned by pasting redirect links to my website in comments because they are so smart they have HTML enabled everywhere. Anyway, I hope better things await me at FaceBook. MoC Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/99735-my-official-review-on-myspace/ Share on other sites
erbic
Facebook's decent. Only thing that pisses me off is the flood of invites for those "applications", but you get used to em after a while. And you can block individual apps now, too. Much better than that MySpace HTML/CSS sh*t. At least Facebook has some structure to it. Did you know you can select friends to ignore app invites from (I didn't until I just looked right now)? You could either block the particularly annoying ones, or just all of them and be completely free. I'm pretty sure that I would like throw a party if MySpace shuts down. apowerr
I use Myspace cause all my friends use it. It's alright, considering theres not any alternative for me at least I too hate the chain bulletins, and I often spam my friends with snopes.com links to prove what they are posting is absolute {censored}. I don't have anymore friends haha (j/k). The lamest chain bulletins are the "YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE LORD IS LOOKING SO REPOST THIS CAUSE THE BIBLE R TRU" ones.
