Hi people,

I have a question about stability, performance and else of other software, not implemented in Leopard. I mean something like Adobe products, Toast, Final Cut, Motion,...

How is it going on your computers? And what are your configurantions?

I am thinking to try it on comp, maybe upgrade hardware, if there is any chance to work stable in good performance in Final Cut and Motion. So I need to here your opinion. I would buy original mac, but as student, I cannot afford it. And need to practice and learn something new and more.

In my part-time job in studio I am working in FCP, at home I in Premiere and After Effects, and I definitely think, FCP is better (but I don't want to provoke and leads this discussion what soft is better :(). And I would also like to learn Motion instead of After Effects.

Thank you. And what else to say...? Let's discus :P

Hope, you'll share your experience with FCP later :).

I'll try to install it on my AMD this weekend. After I see it has sense to work in this kind of software on OSx86, I'll invest to intel. Hope it won't be just throwing out of money.

I haven't tried FCP yet, will very soon, although all the other apps work fine on my Intel based hack. On AMD there is some messing around to make some things work.

Hi insomnimac,

What kind of "messing around" do you think i have to do to be able to install applications? I tried installing iWork 06 but it wouldn't do anything when i double click on the install icon. I also tried installing photoshop 7 and it would just crash. :thumbsup_anim:

  • 8 months later...

i have amd leo4all v4.1 leopard 10.5.4 installation with voodoo 9.5 kernel.

my cpu: amd athlon 6000+ on asus m3a with sb600 chipset

my performance issue is: i can't burn my dvd's at supported speeds like 12x or 8x, sysprofiler says media supported with 12x burning speeds, recognizes my drive as generic burning support but everytime i try to burn my dvds at that speed toast writes it at 1x and then tried disco.app too, still no luck at higher speeds. am i missing something?

my installation works perfectly and qe enabled by the way.

is there anything i must do to force the dvd writer to burn higher speeds?

is there any system settings i check or drivers i must install?

thanks in advance

Everything works for me. The key is to make sure you have all the correct kexts for your hardware.

Go Retail install if you can.

I use Logic Pro 8, Toast 9, Reason 4, EyeTv, Microsoft Office, Parallels to name but a few - all working 100%
