DEVILS APPRENTICE
Whats up all this is my first time here… I am uber eager to get Leo booted (When I say "UBER" I mean I have like 8 copies of AMD Leopard) about 4 of which install. However thats besides the point… I downloaded Leo4allv1 and v2 and proceeded to install on a free harddrive on my rig: A8n32-SLI DELUXE A64 X2 4400 @ 2.5GHZ 2GB Corsair PC 4000 @ 253MHZ 2 x WD Raptors 8800 GTS 320 Leo's install runs beautifully up until the actual install; while it checks the disk comming to the end it says something like the information needed isn't available and Leopard cannot install :-( Both V1 and V2 do this. I burned the disks with Nero super slow… I also got two of the other Distros installed, but to no avail. The iATKOS and the seemingly popular Leopard AMD (Fully patched …..) Those two install excellently but when it comes to the first restart it doesn't take, it just sits there with a black screen. After I hard shutdown the system boots up and I gt to the apple logo load screen and it load for damn near forever then you see a little stop mark on the screen in the cente of the apple logo… But it keeps loading though :-/ If you guys can be of any help I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance to all and more props to Eddie. BTW I am running vista on the 1 drive and I have tried giving Leo the whole come to its self - meaning no alternate os installed. Now that was a quick note I posted over at the osx86 forum. I posted these initial results here with my specs since no one else seem to mention system config and, usually from what I notice, a detailed explanation of whats going wrong... Now as of 4 this morning I notieced a member at osx86 suggested that he unchecked the additional drivers option, which when checked during the next step fails the install. Now I had this checked guys, so I unchecked it and reinstalled: In addition to my above setup harddrive 1 has an existing install of Vista Pro and the second drive which I use as stroage in Vista I wiped clean with Datalife Guard and proceeded to install Leo on. Now the second time around (More like the 10th, prob 12th or 13th) proceeding through the installer using disk utility-to wipe and partition the second drive-and checking the MBR boot option-with the drivers unchecked. I proceeded to the select harddrive screen and then to the customize screen as-mentioned above where I unchecked the additional drivers. Selected the 9.2.2 kernal and the AMD fix and Iincluding 1 or two other obvious options-I installed and guess what! it checked out! only to reboot and load Vista .... I'm sure it installed fine and that its on the damned second drive, but i cant get this {censored} to boot with or with out the dvd in. If the dvd is in it, it proceeds to install all over again, and you already know what happens without. Disableing nvraid doesnt help, there is no noticebly difference with is abled or disabled. I even used my Vista disk to restore Loghorns MBR and then install Leo Still no go . Now to the man , the King, the Guru eddie11c or anyone who has any useful suggestions please HELP!!!! eddie11c
If your installing Leopard to a drive with Vista you will need to use Vista's boot manager to boot Leopard. The installer won't overwrite the existing bootloader of Vista. Use EasyBCD and add an entry for Leopard. There have been alot of posts about this, maybe search around if this fails. As of this moment I removed the Vista drive and I'm reinstalling Leo for the first time on its own with out the additional drivers selected. It is at half an hour left, so I will see what happens own and post back to you guys. I will now go check out the Vista method you mentioned to follow up this install. Again thanks for the reply and info. I will be posting back to all. DEVILS APPRENTICE
Well instal completed sucessfully with a Leo alone drive installed, however reboot posed the same result this time it didnt hang but started to load and right after Error-final write unable to determine... I got the waiting for root message... I also got that with the vista drive. Someone mentioned to use the f8 -v -x method that worked for them; tried and it didnt work for me.
