DD_nVidia
Hey everyone, not been here in quite a while, good to be back though Firstly, system specs. ASUS P5B-E Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2Gb DDR2-800Mhz CL4.0 NVIDIA 8800GTS 640MB 4 x SATA HDD + 1 x PATA HDD 1 x PATA DVD-RW (Pioneer 111) Ok, so heres the deal: I got 10.5.2 and I'm trying to install it on my pc. The disk works since I'm on my IBM T43 OS X 10.5.2 =D Now, when I put the disk in, I was getting the .plist error, and I read that it didn't like the PATA controller on my board (ASUS P5B-E) so what I did was go upstairs to my little shuttle pc, lob on a 320GB drive, and install it up there with the vanilla kernel nvidia drivers etc. then when it finished, I unplugged the drive took it downstairs and plugged it into my other rig. It booted no problem, but when it gets to the bit (i used -v boot) where the login window should appear, it just goes black, as if it can't load the video drivers. Now, I DID install 2 different NVIDIA drivers from the install disk, so that might be the problem. So yeah, what stuff do i need to add at the install stage for it to work on my setup, vanilla kernel, nvidia drivers etc? PLUS Will a SATA DVD Drive cure the .plist thing? Thanks in advance =D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95446-os-x-1052-wont-boot-from-a-pata-dvd-drive/ Share on other sites
mcdull
Will a SATA DVD Drive cure the .plist thing? Yes, >90% it will solve the problem. In 10% it will have some other problems. you need to describe what version of 10.5.2 you've installed. With EFI or not, what kexts you have replaced. DD_nVidia
I have the LEO 4 All 10.5.2 disk. I installed Vanilla Kernel, the 2 Nvidia drivers, and the default bootloader (GUID i think?). I haven't modified any kexts yet since I cant actually get into OS X. As for EFI, er, god I'm not sure exactly what I selected - sorry. Could anyone give me a run down of what I should have in terms of customized features in the install for my system specs? I'll grab a SATA DVD Drive tomorrow.
