MeDevil
Hi all mods/admin. All the posts from the user "InsaelyNas" are actually spam. Can you please delete them? (Sorry if this was not the right place). Regards, Domenico. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/93471-spammers/ Share on other sites

MeDevil
A little question... is there another place where a user can report those info? (spammers/ignoring forum rules/etc) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/93471-spammers/#findComment-666819 Share on other sites
Mebster
A little question... is there another place where a user can report those info? (spammers/ignoring forum rules/etc) There's the little report button under the user name for each post. When using it just leave a little comment as to what you're reporting. Also state if you think the user is generally doing what he shouldn't. I'm going to move this to general feedback as it's a useful topic for all members. ~pcwiz
MeDevil, This might be off topic but in relation to EMAIL spam, you might want to "mask" your email address in your signature to something like: medevil84 gmail com Spam bots can pick this stuff from pages and load your inbox with spam. Just a tip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/93471-spammers/#findComment-668752 Share on other sites

socal swimmer
the sig only appears if you are logged in. so assuming the bots arent logged in, they wont see the sig nor the email address. just saying.. Superhai
Sig is propably safer, but still i wouldn't recommend it. Anyways you should not have it in your profile page! gabe_
I question how well using an <AT> and a <DOT> replacement actually works. Spammers are annoying, not idiots. If I was writing an e-mail harvesting app, I would include the extra few lines of code to look for, and replace <AT>'s and <DOT>'s... Especially when they appeared along with yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/93471-spammers/#findComment-669423 Share on other sites
~pcwiz
Then what you could do is add extra protection. Wrap the medevil48 gmail com in code tags. I don't think harvesters and bots go through code tags. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/93471-spammers/#findComment-669449 Share on other sites
SticMAC™
Phew, I'm lucky, wouldn't want Skyper to get hold of this one!! SticMAN Sig is propably safer, but still i wouldn't recommend it. A Nonny Moose
This is why all new members should have their posts moderated for a very short time. This will cut down a lot of adbots by a huge percentage. It's an extreme solution, but extreme solutions are the ones that usually work.
