alvin777
Hi. I installed the Skippyretard on my Kalyway 10.5.2 Leopard but how do I uninstall the driver for Skippyretard? My sound chip is an ALC883. I downloaded it from here: Skippyretard, Taruga ALC883 driver Where can you download a good sound driver for Realtek's ALC833? Preferably a driver that will make my 5.1 surround setup work? What is an AppleHDA Pather? Thanks in advance. Zulu.Walker
FYI, SkippyRetard's AppleHDA.kext still works with one of my beige boxes that I recently updated to 10.5.3 (not bad for a .kext that's dated 2006!). Use Audio MIDI Setup to add an aggregate device and to make 5.1 possible (haven't tried digital, I only have analog 5.1 on that box). AFAIK 7.1 is possible with ALC883, but I've never bothered trying my 7.1 speakers on the beige box as I don't want messing up my setup with the 8-core MacPro. I haven't tried the latest iterations of Taruga's AppleHDA (the ones I tried circa 2007 only gave line-out+line-in+mic) though as I believe the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" policy on this front. SkippyRetard's ALC883 pkg give 4 Line-outs, a Line-in, and a Mic input, essentially giving you the opportunity to use all analog jacks on your ALC883-equipped mobo. SkippyRetard AppleHDA 2006 + Aggregate 5.1 + 10.5.3 = lil sister movie watching fun. HTH.
