~pcwiz
What did you use to update to 10.5.2? Are you experiencing a 2 minute black screen? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/91382-insanely-slow-boot/#findComment-651981 Share on other sites

vaporATX
i used kalyway to update, and it is at the apple logo screen, and the thingy is spinning but than it looks like it frezes for 2 min. than works fine. Did you install the kernel from Kaly's kernel mpkg (separate package from the 10.5.2 update) after installing the update? Before you ask you can find it in the usual places by searching for kernel vanilla and patched. ~pcwiz
Yep, vaporATX is right. Once you install the kernels mpkg everything works Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/91382-insanely-slow-boot/#findComment-652193 Share on other sites

hackeron
NOREBONER, just repair permissions in the iatkos or kalyways setup disk, not fail. hmm, I just did that and when it boots (which is now very fast) - I see the desktop, can move the mouse a bit and it freezes Any ideas? EDIT: Sorry, when I say that I mean install the new kernel and other kexts from the Kalyway separate package with the update combo. 00diabolic
Not sure why this worked for some of you but its most likely not the kernel and more the system.kext matching your kernel. It seems that kalyway did not include system.kext with his update and with his new 10.5.2 disc for every kernel option. I have a matching system.kext and my system boots kinda fast but i still have a hit compared to 10.5.1 and its related to SATA performance on my ICH8 controller. If you still have a hit to performance then its related to ATA controller driver. I am still trying to figure out which one I should be using it get back my speed I had in 10.5.1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/91382-insanely-slow-boot/#findComment-711320 Share on other sites
