Deadfish2000
Hi, I am a new proud owner of a Hackintosh but the other day when I updated to 10.5.2 using the combo update it worked but frooze for nearly 3 mins at boot. I read around and discovered that I needed to update my kernel to fix the problem. I found the update on tpb. I installed both the vanilla and the hacked kernel..... Unfortunatley it cut my Xbench from 190 to 163. I took a look and the biggest loss is incured in the thead test in which it went from 575 to 256. Now as I have a Quad core I'm thinking that the hacked kernel may now only be using two cores for some reason. That would atleast explain the decrease. I notice a decrease in the Disk test also from 60 to 48. Cheers guys, Kalyway really rocks. mschilling
I thought you're supposed to choose only one kernel? Use activity monitor to see the core activity. Deviant0ne
Either you have intel mobo and core cpu OR sse3 compatible NOT both ! Absolutely correct. Choose either the vanilla kernel OR the modified kernel, NOT both. dutchiee (=
Deadfish2000, would you know if you installed EFI when installing your hackintosh? if you did then use the vanilla kernel. so uninstall the hacked one. if you didnt install EFI then used teh hacked kernel, so uninstall the vanilla one. =] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/89931-big-speed-decrease-with-1052/#findComment-649674 Share on other sites
