I woke up this morning to find my computer in windows...odd since I left it in Leo. So I booted back into Leo and checked the logs in console and this is what I found.. Any ideas? I think this is the second time this has happened.

Feb 24 04:47:42 Nates-Desktop com.apple.launchd[161] ([0x0-0x1c01c].com.apple.mail[217]): Exited abnormally: Floating point exception
Feb 24 04:47:42 Nates-Desktop kernel[0]: CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page: p=602[mdworker] clearing CS_VALID
Feb 24 04:47:44 Nates-Desktop ReportCrash[600]: Saved crashreport to /Users/Nate/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Mail_2008-02-24-044732_Nates-Desktop.crash using uid: 501 gid: 20, euid: 501 egid: 20
Feb 24 04:47:45 Nates-Desktop kernel[0]: CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page: p=604[ATSServer] clearing CS_VALID
Feb 24 04:47:57 Nates-Desktop kernel[0]: unknown SIGFPE code 1, subcode 0
Feb 24 04:47:58 Nates-Desktop com.apple.launchd[1]: We crashed at instruction: 0xffff0315 (sent by PID 0)

I really appreciate any insight you guys might have ;)

You had a kernel panic. Curious: How are your cpu temps when running in Leo?

Temps are fine. It happened again.... Only this time it happened less than 2 hours later...

Feb 24 13:38:25 Nates-Desktop /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd[537]: Backup completed successfully.
Feb 24 13:38:26 Nates-Desktop kernel[0]: unknown SIGFPE code 1, subcode 0
Feb 24 13:38:27 Nates-Desktop com.apple.launchd[1]: We crashed at instruction: 0xffff0315 (sent by PID 0)

Does this help at all? Or at least say whats crashing?

Edit - I just realized that it's crashing at the end of Time Machines backups... The last backup was at 1:38pm, and thats when the system log ends.. Coincidence?

Makes sense, but why? It only seemed to start doing this since I had to reinstall Leo, (used migration utility to restore my files and settings from a previous backup). Are there any TimeMachine fixes that I need to install or anything?

I think I'll just turn off Time Machine for now, I have a full system backup done already if I need it, I don't need a new backup every hour. I can always just backup on demand or something if I can't find another fix (not even sure this will solve it, but I hope it does)

Personally I don't even use Time Machine. I found the whole hubbub Jobs made about it quite amusing. I mean rsync has been around for like 10 years and he made it out to be the second coming or something. I like Unison better anyway.

Hey guys, I am also getting these errors, however, it is not coming from Time Machine. I don't use it, nor do I have it turned on at all. Instead, it is coming from Safari. It seems to happen right after I've left one page to go to google (for example), and then try to type something up in the URL bar. I get a spinning beach ball for about a minute. Sometimes it stops and I can go about my business, but sometimes the whole screen goes black with a block-cursor up at the top left. When I take a look at my console, I notice that I get the same error as reported above, and it happens right after about 20-something instances of the following type of Javascript errors:

2/26/08 11:27:49 PM [0x0-0x28028].com.apple.Safari[289] Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL [and then some really long address]. Domains, protocols and ports must match.

I googled this error first and found that it comes from visiting sites with poorly-coded JS ads. Go figure. The only problem is, all of the people reporting this problem have real macs and they don't have the crash issue that I have. They just see the errors in console and their system remains stable.

If anyone has any idea what could be causing this, please let me know. I may report this to Zephyroth on his forums too.

Thanks,

agra

I'm with you on this. It also happens for me at the end of time machine backups and as such I will be doing another backup and disabling it and then rebooting (manually) to see if it fixes it on my end. I'm running 10.5.2 with a custom install by hand.

I have the same problem (Leo4all v3 on AMD/nVidia) system:

May 4 13:47:53 Spring kernel[0]: unknown SIGFPE code 1, subcode 0

May 4 13:47:54 Spring com.apple.launchd[1]: We crashed at instruction: 0xffff0315 (sent by PID 0)

And it is not related to Time Machine:

May 4 13:16:29 Spring /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd[455]: Backup completed successfully.

It seems that the kernel divides by 0 and crash. But go figure out what's wrong.

Same problem here, its not time machine, its turned off. Transmission always crashes just before the system crash, but thats not it either. It crashed once when I wasn't running Transmission at all.
