Alright.

I boot up my kalyway disc for installation

Everything is fine (I'm not using the -v option...)

then

I get this error...

It's just an apple logo. Stuck there. It's been there for an hour.

FYI, there is no logoym8.jpg on the bottom.

Just an apple logo.

I tried rebooting twice and I get still this error.

I TRIED to use the vanilla kernel (-v), but I get loads of lines which don't really look like errors but they've been there for around an hour too, so I presume they are. It's saying it's "waiting" for something.

Thanks a lot!

i am not sure but what i have read here in this forum is, that when it is waiting for the root device then you need to hook up a PATA HDD if you tried it with a SATA but not sure what you have....

Hi Guys!

Same problem here :(

When installing KALYWAY_LEO_10.5.1intel_SSE2_SSE3 on Toshiba L30-10X I get same symptoms as in first post.

Then I tried to set "-v" key and I get repeatedly "still waiting for root device".

Any suggestions? Thanks!

reboot, and this time take out all USB or fireware devices plugged in. always works.

it happens sometimes on windows too...

I tried disabling the USB port and others like the infrared.. but to no avail.. Can you please share the secret? fyi.. I am trying to install on an IBM T42.. with 512 RAM..Please help!!!!

I have the same problem on my IBM T42. Installation went fine, but on reboot its sitting with apple logo for ever. I did another reboot with -v -x option and this is what happens (attached screen shot). Does anyone know why its hanging at this point?

I get the same issue (seems a lot of people also have this issue) my stalls on an error 'unknown SIGSEGV code 0' hunting around the forums and web (what little else there is out there for osx86) I believe it's often a case of not installing the correct patches. My issue is; I don't know how to apply a patch.

I added ACPI patch (both selections when you expand the tree) rebooted with -v -x option and it loaded up after 10 minutes. The screen shot attached is taken at the point I was waiting for 10 minutes.

I almost rebooted and started new installation with different settings and then the after installation configuration screen came up. :)

I have a question regarding doing software updates on Leo. I have 10.5.2, but I wanted to have at least 10.5.4 then if I perform an update through the self update tool it will crash the whole thing. Is that correcrt?
