I've had OSx86 installed on an external hard drive and it really doesn't work that great on my hpPavilion laptop, and I want to start backing up my DVDs and other various files and stuff. So is there anyway that you guys know of that I can whipe my hard drive clean without using the OS install disc? because I currently don't have it in my possesion.

Thanks guys,

Ryan

The only thing that my computer recognizes about it is that it is a USB device, but it doesn't show up in "My Computer"...I'll have to go look in disk management. It comes up as a "mass storage device".....And I don't know where to go to formatt from here...Is there anything you can tell me that might point me in the correct direction? Thanks alot,Ryan

Your PC doesn't see your mac drive because it is formatted as HFS+ (I assume). You need software to be able to see the drive.

There are a few "bad" USB enclosures that may need drivers but Windows XP/Vista should have the appropriate drivers to handle USB storage devices.

Easiest solution, just download the gparted livecd, boot from it and do what you need.
