speedbuggy Posted February 12, 2008 Share Posted February 12, 2008 psychoboogie, Real macs do not use a regular style boot sector, instead they rely on EFI/OpenFirmware to boot the system then pass off to the installed OS .. Most cloning tools for macs do not do a complete HDD backup but instead start at the root file system .. as all macs already have either EFI or OpenFirmware .. I found one tool Hatchery CloneTool which is supposed to be able to backup both the file system and a boot sector, however I have not needed to use it yet .. my previous clone was done with Carbon Copy Cloner and I just manually put in my boot sector using the dd, startupfiletool and bless commands as I need to use EFI on MBR for my system ..
