The Master
I know that Logic Studio comes with "new versions" of the first five GarageBand Jam Packs. Are these also still compatible with the latest GarageBand? I mean, from a clean system without any Jam Packs installed at all, if I install the Logic 8 versions, will they also show up and be usable from within GarageBand too? Thanks... UZi706
Why wouldn't they be, it is called GarageBand Jam Packs isn't it?
dj_stick
as long as your version garageband supports the .caf (core audio format) files that the "new" jampacks are encoded as, then yeah they'll work fine
The Master
Cheers, I thought they would be, I was just wondering about the install order really. I've got the old packs 1-5 already, and the latest GarageBand. I'm going to buy Logic Studio next week, and do a complete fresh OS X install before installing it. I need to keep drive space use at a minimum, so I just wanted to be sure that I didn't need to install the old AND the new versions of the packs in order for GarageBand to be able to see them as well as Logic. Thanks!
dj_stick
the new versions with logic will take less HDD space, and they've used a lossless compression codec on them, as opposed to the full size .aif for the retail jam packs
The Master
Oh splendid. Do the new versions include the software instruments as well, or only the loops?
