artix123
1. If everyone is like you, then this forum will become {censored}. 2. What patch are you talking about? As far as I know, my iATKOS doesn't require any patching. wan3212
when installed it, it said installation successful. but when i take the cd out, it boots right to windows. i thought i needed to patch it to get it to boot. if not, could someone tell me how to boot into leopard with iaktos? and yes, im sorry about my forum behavior. on most forums im not like this, im just getting upset. iScott
iATKOS does not require patching, it is already patched for you. Did you install the Darwin Boot Loader? It will not boot without the boot loader. You have to manually install it yourself, in the menu bar click on GO and click on Darwin Boot Loader and follow the instruction. Of course this means that you need to re install Leopard. Use Disk Utility to erase and partition, then install the Darwin Boot Loader, then install the OS. BTW what are your specs for your computer? If you let us know, we can tell you what to pick in the Customize section. Oh, I just read your sig, you can not install the Vanilla kernel with a Pentium D, When you install the Boot Loader select instal EFI and in customize do not select anything except the bare system. No drivers at all, no Vanilla. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/85191-please-help-no-one-is-helping-me/#findComment-604786 Share on other sites

wan3212
thanks very much scott money for the help. yes, i used the darwin boot loaded and it did stuff and said it was completed. i also used the disk utility to partion it to mac os journaled or whatever it was. so your saying with pentium d i will need be able to install any drivers? and what about the efi? where do i install efi? is it disk utilities, or it something i need to set up in terminal? (fyi im now gonna try to reinstall leopard so ill hopefully figure out the efi) also, then once its done, how do i actually get leopard to boot? when it automatically restarts if i leave the cd in it goes back to the installer, and when i take the disk out it just boots back to windows. artix123
Glad that you got it working. (= I think what he meant was that Pentium D is incompatible with Vanilla. Either that or it will cause problems. I didn't install it anyway. For EFI, when in the installer, go to the menu bar and find something called "DARWIN_BOOT", and then follow the instructions by selecting the hard disk and partition that your Leopard is going to be on. Then just follow the instructions to install Boot EFI. Hmm after I installed Leopard I left the cd inside the drive and then I waited for the counter to finish counting down, then my Leopard booted. Maybe it's because you didn't install the Darwin bootloader. Try that. (= edit: well no one helped me for my problems too, so I can understand how you feel. Sorry about my rudeness in the post above. wan3212
Its installing right now. I just hope in the Darwin boot loader I installed it in the right place. My leopard partion said disk1partition5 in the disk utility. So I typed in disk 2 and partion 5 in the Darwin boot loader. It seems odd though. I only have 2 drives and only one drive has 2 partions. So where the 5 came from I have no idea. Also I have some photos of odd things in the start up screen loading thing. I can't post them now though because I'm typing on my hacked iPod touch. Ah it was much easier to hack my iPod than it is to install leopard thanks everyone again for the help but done go to far I might need help later. artix123
Haha I wish I have an iPod Touch. Hmm what is the name of your Leopard drive? 'Cos for mine it was something like disk0s3 (I only have 1 hard drive, and it was my 2nd partition) Maybe you can use that for reference. Zzz I still can't access my Vista partition in Leopard.. wan3212
yes mine said disk1s5. so wut should i type i for under the boot loader? drive 1 partion 5? i just tried installing it and under darwin boot loader typed disk 2 partion 5. that prob wasnt right though, it STILL doesnt work. im just afraid that in darwin boot loader if i type drive 1 it will erase windows. ill post photos in about 2min. that sucks about ur vista partition heres the odd behavior when the leopard installer was loading (the very bottom) dont know if its normal or not heres after i tried installing using the darwin boot (may have been because i didnt select the right partion?) heres right before it "automatically reset the pc" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/85191-please-help-no-one-is-helping-me/#findComment-604834 Share on other sites
artix123
If you selected the right partition, after you choose the drive number and partition number, it should state that the partition is "HFS+, journaled". If it doesn't maybe you selected the wrong drive/partition. Doesn't work as in can't boot? Maybe you installed to the wrong partition I guess.. EDIT: I think you selected the wrong partition based on the 2nd picture. For the other pictures I'm not very sure.. If you booted the installer using -v then the 3rd pic should be normal, not sure about 1st one though. wan3212
yea. do u think i just type it in exactly how it says: it said my leopard drive was disk1s5 even though its on the second partion of my second disk. should i try that? artix123
I'm not very sure I forgot =P Maybe this will help: "Note: In my case, windows names partitions form 0,1,2,3 and MAC names them from 1,2,3,… So the partition number in MAC will be 1+ the partition number in windows. So say, you have created partition 3 in windows, here it will be seen as disk0s4.! Atleast that was my case. You can cross verify this by seeing the size of the disk here." "12. Now close this disk utility and click on Utilities->Darwin_Boot 13. Click on the terminal, to activate the cursor and type Y. 14. When it asks for disk no press 1 15. When it asked for partition no press x+1" EDIT: Yes I think you should follow disk1s5. wan3212
just tried that, it didnt work. i tried basically every combination possible, nothing. i didnt bother going through with the installation with wut that guide says, i should try disk 1 partion 4? or partion 6? also thinking about my pc, does it matter at all that im installing it on an ata hdd? heres some photos of my troubles. in (chronological order) then i typed in 5, and this showed up (i tried many combinations and this always came up) looking AGAIN at that guide u followed, should i maybe try disk 3, partion 3 or 4 or 5 or 6? artix123
Erm, I think it should be like this: Target HDD Number: 2 (/dev/disk1) Partition number: 5 (disk1s5) And then it should state that the hard disk is "journaled".. Then it should work. When you see the failed to unmount error then I think you had the wrong HDD and partition number. Did you format your hard disk using Mac OS X Extended? (or journaled) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/85191-please-help-no-one-is-helping-me/#findComment-604875 Share on other sites
shornby
Based on your disk config: disk1s5 You need to type 2 (for disk1) , then 5 (for s5). It's a cardinal/ordinal thing Hope that helps. chevy2410
Why don't you get Kalyways 10.5.1 install disk instead. It installs the darwin bootloader for you. The way you' re going you'll never get it done. It seems to me you are jumping in, but don't know how to swim. Relying on others to keep you a float. People can give advice and sometimes it's not always right and other times it's spot on. What I'm trying to say is you can advice here, but in the end you must figure it out for yourself. Most everyone here has been in you spot at some point or another and they've managed to figure there problems out. Don't come crying with a post everytime something you tried didn't work. Sit back and think things through. Chevy.
