at first i installed leo on an external usb drive.

later on i copied the partition on an internal drive.

i used acronis for backing up the partition and restoring

it to the internal partition. (acronis is also part of the

hirens boot cd :( )

to boot from the partition along with xp and vista i used

easy-bcd.

copying with ccc did not work for me (not bootable, maybe

i´d need to use some terminal commands first)

Lol I've never heard of acronis or hirens but I'll take a look.

One possible way, although I haven't tried it yet, is to use Disk Utility on osx. First boot from a usb drive, or install cd, and then drag the hdd icon of your good install onto the disk utility icon. It will prompt you as to where to save the disk image, and there you go, a complete img file of you hdd that you can copy over to another hdd.

I've done this twice using CarbonCopyCloner through OS X.

Additionally, if you install Leopard via DVD onto the new drive while the old drive is connected, Leopard has a terrific migration assistant that worked well for me on this present install. It transfers all your apps, and user files without fail.
