After having messed about for a long time getting OSX to run on this board i thought people might care if i shared this with the community.

For this install I am using the Kalyway DVD.

My Rig:

Abit IP35-E

Intel Q6600 2,4GHz (clocked at 3.6)

2GB DDR2 Dual Channel RAM

GeForce 6800 256MB

2x 160GB SATA Harddisks

SATA DVD-ROM

IDE DVD-RW

First, boot the dvd ( you need a SATA dvd player for this!! IDE WILL NOT WORK! )

When the DVD bootloader pops up, hit F8 and type "vanilla -v" followed by an enter. This will cause the installer to use the vanilla kernel and show what its doing. It just hung a few times when i tried it. Connecting the Harddisks to SATA connector 5 and 6 Helped.

Second, Select your language click utilities -> disk utility

fomat your disk with 1 (or more) partitions. Be sure to format them as MBR, GUID didnt work for me. Also, the bootloader failed to install correctly when i put spaces in the volume name.

Third, tell it to install on your fresh partition and click custom.

install the Vanilla kernel (both packages) and the MBR EFI v8 bootloader.

Fourth, Click install and pray ;)

if all goes well it will reboot and boot into your bootloader. Select OSX Leopard and boot!

Fifth, Set up all your stuff. For me my PS/2 keyboard didnt work. I bought a cheap Logitech USB keyboard for 10 euro's and all was fine.

Sixth, You will probably (hopefully) find that most stuff already works except Audio (and in my case my GeForce 6800 - the natit drivers on the Kalyway DVD worked fine)

To get audio to woked I used the driver from this post (also see attatchments): http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...&pid=506854

Be sure to set the permissions right after installing the kext or OSX will complain about it being incorrectly insalled.

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions

rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

and run the diskutility -> repair permissions, just to be sure

That should fix sound.

All this went very smooth for me.

Ofcourse if you have any questions, feel free to PM me and i will try to help :)

This guide helped me get the audio working with the IP35. To get PS2 Working you need to download the file called AppleACPIPlatform 1.1.0 wit ps2nub V2.kext.zip from this post: Official Kalyway Post

Then, Install the Kalyway 10.5.2 Combo Updater, which is "Torrent-Able". I backed up my /System/Library/Extensions directory before installing it just in case. Seems to work pretty well!

I have this exact same motherboard, but I'm using a Core 2 Duo E6700 CPU and an XFX nVidia GeForce 8600GT 256MB Video Card. I'm installing using the newest Kalyway DVD. I'm selecting the desktop nvidia drivers during the install also. It finished installing MacOSX, but as soon as it was done it went to a black screen and says the following:

<<

localhost configd[41] <Error>: server_shutdown bootstrap_register(): Service name already exists

localhost configd[41] <Debug>: server shutdown complete (227793656.084275)

syncing disks... Killing all processes

continuing

done

MACH Reboot

>>

Then it just sits there... So I press the reset button on the front of the computer and let it boot from the hard drive. When the apple screen comes up with the turning lines (bootloader is what it's called i guess?), the screen flashes once and it freezes on the bootloader screen.

I partitioned 1 of my 500GB HDDs with 2 partitions (MacOSX and Windows are the names I gave them).

What am I doing wrong? Here's what I've got:

Abit IP35-E

Intel E6700 Core 2 Duo

2GB Dual Channel RAM

XFX nVidia GeForce 8600GT 256MB PCI-E

2x 500GB SATA Harddisks

2x SATA DVD-RW

Looks like I fixed it... I installed this time without selecting any video drivers and doing only 1 partition on the hard drive and it seemed like it fixed it. I'm assuming the nVidia driver that I was trying to use is what was causing it to freeze up. Now I just have to find out what I need to install for my nVidia GeForce 8600GT, lol. Thanks for the walkthrough!

Hey man... I just wanted to let you know that I have had all kinds of trouble getting my IP35-E going with Kalyway 10.5.1. I followed your guide and installation was a breeze! You're a lifesaver :) Now I just need to mess w/ sound and see if I can get my GF8600 working so I can get to my LCD's native resolution. Thanks again!

Anyone with an IP35-E having problems, make sure your drives are all SATA and then follow this guide to the letter!

Thanks for the info Dysphoria, I was desperately trying to make audio work on my IP35-E & after 2 days of constant reading through threads I was still no where..

Actually KEXTs can be a little "too much" for MAC newbies so I'm writing away how I got mine to work..

grabbed " HDA_ICH9_ALC888.zip"

didn't felt to mug my head up learning how to use kexts, i just downloaded ""Kext Helper b7.zip" & installed the kext from there. Rebooted & the sound was working....

Is it possible to install on a IDE DVD Drive? As I have seen some patches for JMichron but I am not sure it allows to install it on IDE.

Can anyone confirm or help me find a patch for this?

Help!

Thanks in advance.
