RetepNamenots
Hi, I'm downloading the flat version of leopard... Anyway, I want to install it onto my PC, but preferably be able to keep my current Windows XP install as well. Is this possible? I've searched the forums but haven't really seen anything concrete, and most only refer to Tiger. My specs: Asus P5K-E WiFi AP Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 500Gb Samsung Spinpoint SATAII nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX +PSU etc. How should I install, how can I sort out the partitions for the install (currently I only have one 500Gb partition for XP...) 1 1/2 hours until the flat image has been downloaded.. please help!! ferlie
make new partition for ur leopard system, make sure the the partition for leopard is Primary partition, then change the new partition as primary boot/mbr. Install the leopard, after finish the installation, if u want to go back to Windows, after bios booting, just press any key, you will see your partition, choose the windows partition then done... youre back to Windows :D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83992-how-should-i-install-leopard/#findComment-596394 Share on other sites
RetepNamenots
Ok, so I could use Acronis to make a new partition (say 12Gb) for Leopard, make sure it's a primary partition, and then install Leopard onto the new empty one... What partition type does the one for leopard need to be? (ie. I know it's not NTFS) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83992-how-should-i-install-leopard/#findComment-596429 Share on other sites
ferlie
Primary Partition + Primary Booting, format type use Fat32. when installing the Leo, u will reformat the partition into Mac Journal, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83992-how-should-i-install-leopard/#findComment-596440 Share on other sites
RetepNamenots
I'm using the flat leopard download, which if I'm not mistaken means that the files are just copied accross? (ie. I won't be installing in the usual sense) Does this matter? RetepNamenots
I have installed.. kinda successfully I think. However I can't get into it! At the loading screen with the Apple logo, the screen goes a bit gray, then says: "You need to restart. To do this, hold down the power button or press the restart button" or something along those lines.... Any ideas?
