Hi, everyone sez back up your files, I have been draging copies of my kext file to the documents folder. Is the a better way? should they be backed up in the SYS/Extensions file before replacing. still new at this so thx for any tips you can pass along to me and other Newbessssssssssss.

Compress it (Archive it if you're in Tiger) with a right-click and burn all you can to optical media such as CD or DVD would be safest I would think.

 

And secondly, be careful about leaning on your S key whilst typing, it looks like it could get stuck :hysterical:

if you are not good in terminal + unix commands,

do yourself a favour and use the little app kexthelper (you will find it with search) for installing kexts,

it repairs the disk permissions and the system will load them at reboot.

thats convinient for newbys, before you mess up your system.
