zeamp
This is probably a stupid question but I took a quick look in the recent threads and found little to no current information regarding using .Mac on your Hackintosh. Sure, we're all updating iTunes and Quicktime from Software Update, but what about when it comes down to getting a .Mac account for your Hackintosh? I've never used .mac, not even on a "Real Mac," so I have no idea what the process is but I do know my "2.93GHz Unknown" CPU on Leopard 10.5.1 isn't exactly a Mac Mini. Feel free to provide your input: both Mac and Hackintosh users, on the .Mac accounts. Thanks! TheOrB
No issues in 10.4.11 or earlier, but glitch with IATKOS 10.5.1- can't connect to my iDisk. Probably need to change some ionetworking kext, but haven't figured out which yet. Haven't seen anyone else with this issue, but don't know how many Hackers have .Mac accounts... The trial is free, good for 3 months?, but don't know if it gives iDisk access. Good for ID in iChat, though... Give it a try-should work fine, and whatever email you choose is reserved for you if you do get a full, paid account. Been using .Mac since 2001 on "genuine" Macs... zeamp
Thanks for the info, TheOrB! iDisk seems to be working great on Leopard 10.5.1 (Kalyway) and I now have my own .Mac account with their 60-day trial. I was a little mislead by 'Back To My Mac'. I thought it was some sort of Java-based web VNC with a built in DynDNS client or something so I could access it remotely from a computer (any) if the IP changed... Oh well, at least I have this cool e-mail address. I wonder if I should pay for it when the trial runs up just to be "elite" with my @mac.com e-mail address on my non-Mac PC. Cybaster
anyone else using .mac? as mobileMe comes out soon I have a Core2Duo "mac", a genuine macbook pro and an iphone, so I was wondering if everything can be synced I was reading some online information regarding .mac/mobile me and it seems like all it is doing is dynamic dns. So if we are safe, i think mobileMe would be great! npike
.Mac is perfectly safe on a hackintosh. Been using it in conjunction with my hackintosh and MacBook for a few months.. unten44
No issues in 10.4.11 or earlier, but glitch with IATKOS 10.5.1- can't connect to my iDisk. Can't connect to iDisk using iATKOS 10.5.4 either. However, if you turn on iDisk Sync, your local copy is viewable but you cannot add files to iDisk from your Hackintosh. Anyone figure the iDisk problem out? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/80685-mac-for-your-hackintosh/#findComment-895690 Share on other sites
