azy-tar
I have a Compaq Proliant DL580 G2 with the following specs: two dual core Intel Xeon 603pin 2.0Ghz four 18gb scsi hard-drives 4 gb ddr-ecc memory cd-rom drive* (currently bidding on the dvd-rom on eBay) Is it possible to install osX86 on this peice of equipment? I know it probably needs the DVD-Rom drive, but I didn't know if it was possible to break the installation dvd into smaller cd images. I successfully installed osX86 10.4.8 on an MPC 365 (intel 915 chipset, P4 3.0) but the onboard network doesn't work. My server has an a couple of Intel NICs, so i'dlike to try it on that. What is the integrated NIC ? On the server question - do those CPU's have SSE2 ?
katz
I'm going to try it on mine tomorrow, maybe, depending on how much time I have. The big question would be the RAID controller. I think the Intel NICs would be OK, and the CPUs are big and bad enough they should handle Snow Leopard. But, mine is only 32 bit, not 64, so no Lion on it for me
