2 hdds in computer, one guid kalyway hdd, one winxp hdd, switching drives in pc bios for booting purposes.

when booted off of the 10.5.1 drive, i can see the ntfs drive, but there are no visible files inside of the drive... if i can read external ntfs drives, shouldn't i be able to read internally mounted ntfs hdds? is this a 10.5.1 limitation?

gigabyte p35c-ds3r, using the orange sata ports for both hdds.

thanks for your help, i tried the ntfs3g and macfuse, but i still can't see the contents of the ntfs winxp boot drive.

it just doesn't make sense that i can read external ntfs hdds, but not internal ntfs hdd.

i hope that this is something paragon can fix, i'll give their demo a try.

as macgirl stated, try Paragon ntfs, I had lots of problems with ntfs3g and macfuse. It would often not recognize one or the other of my partitions or simply not write to it. I never had any problems with paragon ntfs.

Actually, his/her problem might be a bit deeper since you should be able to natively read ntfs volumes without paragon (excellent product btw) or ntfs-3g. Perhaps it has something to do with the type of controller that is being used by those drives...or a need to switch from ide mode to ahci mode or vice versa. A warning though, it can be dangerous to your ntfs drive's health to do too much experimenting on it from within osx without a very dependable backup.
