Hello everyone,

Here's my first post! I actualy did a lot of reading in the Wiki and forum before posting this. It seems that the only way to find out if I would be able to install OSx86 on my machine is to try for my self! I know there are hardware compatability issues, but that's constantly being worked on. So first of all, I'll share with you the hardware specs, then give you my tripple OS installation Plan. FYI, the new machine is still in boxes, I'll start installing it after this post!

Hardware:

  1. Intel X38 chipset Asus P5E WS Professional mobo
  2. 2.4 GHz 4MB X2 L2 cache Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad CPU (G0 stepping)
  3. 4GB OCZ FlexXLC Edition DDR2 800 memory (1GB X4)
  4. XFX GForce 8800 GT 512 MB GDDR3 (overclocked core @ 670 MHz, overclocked memory @ 1950 MHz)
  5. 500 GB 32 MB cache Seagate 7200.11 SATA II hard disk
  6. Samsung DVD burner (I'll add the model later)
  7. Logitech 2.0 Megapixel Quickcam Pro 9000 webcam

The first OS which will be installed is Debian (Linux). When I get my copy of windows, and by copy I mean original, I'll install it next. Most likely I'm getting Vista Ultimate. The last OS to be installed is OSx86 as it won't be a straight forward thing, and will require a lot of tweaking.

So what do I need to prepare? What hardware is definately going to make my life hell during the OSx86 install? I know there might be problems with my 8800 GT GForce card... If you guys have links to posts that you think would help me, it would help a lot. I can give more details if necessary too.

The biggest question though, is how will I tripple boot? I will use Grub to dual boot Debian and Vista... But what about OSx86? Any people with triple booting experience? Btw, I only have 1 500 GB drive, which I can partition which ever way necessary.

Hope to hear from all of you. Hopefully at the end of this thread, I'll be reporting that everything is working on my new machine!
