Kalyway on a Dell 8300 Questions

I have recently installed Kalyway 10.5.1 on my Dell 8300 and it seems to be 100% working with no problems running on the "tohkernel".

I was having trouble booting, but realized that it was trying to boot form the standard "vanilla" (mach_kernel) and it would immediately reboot. I edited "com.apple.Boot.plist" to boot from "tohkernel" and the system boot the first time.

I let the system update as normal and it performed perfectly; no problems with updating at all.

My question is that I was under the impression that system software updates wouldn't work correctly unless you were running the "vanilla" kernel..... is that true??

Also it is my understanding that a Pentium 4 will not boot from the "vanilla" kernel..... is that true??

Thank you very, very much.

Great job and I am seriously pleased!! --Jim
