00diabolic
OSX will NOT run on a ext partition. You need to format it HFS+. Boot to the DVD and go to utilities and go to disk utility and find your HD. PArtition it with MBR or GUID partiton scheme depending on which one you want to try. I think TOH only works with MBR not sure. Anyway once that is done try the install again and you should get some better results. When you first boot either the DVD or into your install for the first time hit f8 and type -v (verbose mode) and -x (safemode). Then you can see where you get errors and post back those errors. Hope that helps Good Luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/78084-startup-freeze-help-to-a-newbie/#findComment-552772 Share on other sites

tech4
I had the same thing happen. When it gets to the firewire error is the DVD Drive still working. Mine sits there for 5 minutes or so before it does a couple of lines then stops for a bit. If the DVD Drive is still going just let it continue.
