well for a start you are Probably going to have one hell of a time getting that core 2 quad to do anything, as far as i know mac os x only supports quad core Xeon processors. The Geforce i believe there are drivers lying around on here somewhere and numerous people have had endless trouble with the nForce Networking.

Mac does not support Quad Core? I saw few pictures (aquamac) - he had Quad Core too. It was working fine! Before i got this terrible motherboard and videocard and other things i had a Pentium 4 running on OSX. I thing Quad Core can work faster...

Anyway...

What version of OSX can run on my damm computer?

I have tried nac.nub , JAS 10.4.8 , JAS 10.4.6. , TUB 10.4.10

My setup:

Hi Mate,

How hard have you tried.....?

I have a Striker Extreme and A core 2 quad working with both 10.4 Tiger and 10.5 Leopard...

I see you havent posted what your problems are!!!

There is a thread with a guide specifically written for nforce mobos like ours and they work....

I can tell you that 10.4.8 jas will work for you

and that 10.5 leopard with efi will work...

as to how to fix your problems...?

Cant help unless you specifically state whats wrong

with jas only click the intel and the esentials (which you cant untick)

Looking at your vid card

I would suggest that you will have to delete the nvda and geforce kexts in -s mode to get it past the kernel panic...

and there are threads on this...

persistance pays off ... well sometimes ...LOL

Cheers,

Paul (kadmiff)

If i install mac.nub 10.4.10 it hangs up on (see at pic).

On JAS 10.4.10 it just hangs up on apple screen and ask me for restart.

What did you say about 10.5 ?

I havn't tried it yet...

Does it support dualboot with VISTA?

THX.

for leopard, this is the thread for you...

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=69705

as for Tiger...

The only install i could get working perfectly was Jas 10.4.8

...I would try that , but after install

boot with f8 then -v -s and remove the kexts related to nvida and geforce ...

then after it boots go hunt down the right drivers for your video ...

Ps: Leopard can dual boot with vista, however ... If you format guid then only 64bit versions will work xp 64 vista 64..

I would use a seperate h/disk for vista as this is safer ...

that way you can select usin the standard f8 on boot for boot list...

Mbr partition will let you use the 32 bit versions of vista and xp , but resizing partitions on the fly is not possible...

Cheers,

Paul (kadmiff)

I will try 10.4.8 --> 10.4.9 --> 10.4.10 --> 10.5.0 --> 10.5.1 way...

OK... How can i delete GeForce drivers?

OK, I feel really down because I've tried so hard to get OSX working on my config:

CPU: Core Duo e6850

MOBO: XFX 680i LT

RAM: OCZ Reaper X - 4GB

Vid Card: 8800GT

I tried JaS 10.4.7, JaS 10.4.8, Uphuck 10.4.9, Toh 10.5.0, iAikos 10.5.1 and Kalyway 10.5.1

the only one that semi worked was 10.4.8 - Runs fine...although OSX didnt recognize my PCI slots nor did it like restarting (shutdown was fine, but all important apps will NEED a reboot to install correctly)

Has anyone got a fix for the PCI slot thing? or the reboot thing?

just to add... I got these kext errors in verbose mode

IOPCIfamily

IOGraphicsFamily

IONDRVsupport

NVDAResman

i deleted all of them but this didnt help me with the pci issue, so i tried installing the IOPCIfamily kext from JaS 10.4.7 with no joy

OK. Nothing works... :D When it installs Leopard it just restarts at 1/2 of the process.I will try 10.4.8 --> 10.4.9 --> 10.4.10 --> 10.5.0 --> 10.5.1 way...OK... How can i delete GeForce drivers?

Oh this I can answer! you delete the Geforce Drivers by pressing F8 then type -s -v

then wait a sec and type:

/sbin/ mount -uw /

hit enter

type:

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/Geforce.kext

hit enter

then type:

reboot

hit enter and then reboot

see if that works

Hi! I got Leo to boot!

I use THIS GUDIGE but i don't did a bootfix because i update 10.4.9 to 10.5.0 (i think bootfix is bot neccesary for me)

OK. I have problem with the 22 and 23 .

Marvin's AMD Utility said some error and didn't create the cpuid.txt file on the Folder on desktop... In the folder was log file and 1 other file witch wasn't cpuid.txt

Ohh and the 32 and 33.

When i open the 10.5.1 update with Pacifist 2.5.1 i don't know where i can do this:

Select and install everything except what I have listed below:

CODE/mach_kernel

/System/Library/Extensions/

AppleACPIPlatform.kext

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

ApplePS2Controller.kext

AppleSMBIOS.kext

dsmos.kext

IOATAFamily.kext IOAHCIFamily.kext

AppleAC97Audio.kext

AppleAHCIPort.kext

AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

AppleVIA.kext

AppleVIAATA.kext

IOHDIXController.kext

IONetworkingFamily.kext

NVDANV10HAL.kext

NVDANV20HAL.kext

NVDANV30HAL.kext

NVDANV40HAL.kext

NVDANV50HAL.kext

NVDAResman.kext

GeForce.kext

It installed a file and my Mac crashed.

What i have to do in next time?
