myztikal47
I installed OSx successfully, but after the installation, the computer had to restart and it boots to a black screen. The first time it booted to a blue blackground which got me all excited, but then it switched over to a black screen, I could hear the hard drive still working but nothing shows up on the screen. I tried to boot with -v, but same problem, it doesn't get stuck loading anywhere, it just boots to this black screen. The monitor is still getting signal becuase it doesn't go into standby mode, but I can't do anything. Anyone have any suggestions? I tried forcing it to boot with the following "Graphics Mode" = 1024x768x32 and I got the mouse to show up, still no background, and it looks like someone turned the screen sideways lol. myztikal47
OK, it says something along the lines of: NVDA = Start display(1) Failed, something like that.... myztikal47
Ok, I dont know how, but I got it to work!!! The only thing now is that I can't connect to the internet, it won't see my ethernet card. When I open System Info, under the PCI info, it says I have no PCI cards installed even though my sound card and ethernet card are installed. Anyone have any ideas? I even tried to onboard ethernet card, it still won't recognize it. minion187
what chipset is the ethernet card? you can probably find out by looking at the card and looking on each chip, should have some kind of brand name or something somewhere on it. for example, my realtek 8139 card has RTL8139 written on one of the chips on the card. or, if you've got windows on the same PC, you could probably find out in Device Manager. once you find the card's manufacturer and chipset, you can search for it on the forum and see if anyone's having similar problems. if all else fails, try another card. NIC's are cheap as hell these days. myztikal47
It is a National Semic Conductor Corp chipset. I checked a few WiKi's out and none of them seem to mention this chipset anywhere. Are there any drivers or something I can download? Thanks for the help!!
