I started using firefox instead of Camino after installing Leopard and now after the 10.5.1 update I thought that this problem may have been fixed. I notice that when using Firefox 2.0.0.x.x on Leopard the mouse seems to stick to the interface. I changed to an Aronnox theme and this has solved that problem, but the mouse sticks on webpages as well. On Camino this problem is non-existant. Any suggestions?

I added the kext, it didn't solve the problem. I will just stick to Safari, and use Camino. I installed Natit. Both my Hackintosh and Mac Mini have the same issue with the mouse distorting when changing fields from pointing to inputing text.

*Update installed the hacked AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext on Mini, what am I thinking*

I am only using Natit.kext. I am using the stock AppleIntegratedFramBuffer.kext, I got rid of the "other" one that I used originally to get my display to go from 1024x768 to 1280x1024. Natit gives me the ability to use my display with the stock kexts. But tearing is evident, pretty much only on firefox, using safari or camino seems to work fine.

*update Natit.kext only worked cause I still had the hacked AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext, the whole folder was a mess, just re-installed OS again.

@webterractive

sorry it didn't work with you, i'll guess you have a desktop then. i forgot about that detail.

natit.kext is never vanilla (stock) as it is only needed in hacks.

@drbee

I don't know. but the thread I mentioned has grown very big, read and see if that is the case.

Lol, thanks though kudos to paulicat and the others to get this to work. I do have a desktop and not a laptop. But I did find a solution to using the stock kext so now I can use Firefox without tearing or artifacts. Just add the following to the com.apple.Boot.plist:

<key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string>1280x1024x32@75</string>

The above resolution is my display native, it will vary to everyone else. This allows the system to boot up using the stock AppleIntelIntegratedFrambuffer.kext . The only issues are that your display will not powersave but the screensaver+DVD playback work fine.

I think I might have a good idea about the mouse tearing issue. It seems that the Leopard mouse is a png. The non-stock appleintelintegratedframebuffer.kext seems to disable png transperancy. I noticed an interesting behaviour using microsoft's messenger. Using the non-stock appleintelintegratedframebuffer.kext will make the sign in icon show up within a white square, meaning that the png graphic is not transparent. But using the stock appleintelintegratedframebuffer.kext and you will notice that when signing in the image now shows to be natively on, the white square is gone. Could maybe using a non-png mouse fix the tearing issue, is this even possible?

Those of you who swapped out the appleintegratedframebuffer.kext or installed the natit.kext (or both)- can any of you use the put display to sleep function? I got rid of my mouse funkiness, but now my monitor won't sleep no matter what I do. When I went back to the originally installed .kexts, my monitor was able to be put to sleep again. Anybody having the same problem?
