(MoC)
Microsoft Whiz led me on to a little tip to install SP3 like a MSDN suscriber. Steps: Run the batch file provided. Check WinUpdates Install I'm doing it right now, will update on progress (thx mw)!!! WinXPSP3RC.rar
~pcwiz
I wouldn't be the first to try out a new MS service pack if I were you. Some service packs are notorious to cause problems so I'm gonna wait before I let SP3 touch my system.
DukeRaoul
i've been testing the new SP3 build 3244 (release candidate 1) it installed with no problems, just took a while now xp definately seems faster - everything generally seems more responsive it looks the same, and I don't see any of the Vista-like features people mentioned

Forceman
That's true (pcwiz), but speed has improved in the new pack as well as the new uxtheme.dll which I busted my ass to patch! Hack worked great, I downloaded the uxtheme.dll for SP3 and replaced it, I can't use any window styles, any idea?
Azurael
Hang on, so they've made XP faster in SP3? That's not good with the news that Vista SP1 is going to be a security/feature optimisation release rather than one targeted at performance, considering the difference in performance between XP and Vista now!
