limini Posted December 1, 2007 Share Posted December 1, 2007 Most people here seem to be hooked into getting Leopard + EFI working. I'm really in no hurry because I still have some compatability issues with some softwares I use. How to install the EFI patch and get a plain vanilla 10.4.11 upgrade to work is mostly intimated at but no clear walk through has been posted; I keep reading that its "much the same", which to the terminal-challenged like myself isn't reassuring. The methods I've found posted on upgrading 10.4.x to 10.4.11 involve backing up the kernel and a few critical extensions, upgrading with the delta upgrader, and then replacing the kernel with the older versions. I'd much rather install the EFI patch and then upgrade everything (my system is C2D, HPET, SS3 so it should be transparent) and then probably patch the graphics and sound. So has anyone done the EFI patch on 10.4.10 and then upgraded to 10.4.11 using the original delta upgrade without issues? And if yes, any pointers would be cool. Thanks! limini Posted December 1, 2007 Author Share Posted December 1, 2007 Thanks for that 2nd link, inferno0270. Judging by your sig, we've used the exact same upgrade path. I boot my iHack from the Vista boot selector: when I select MacOS it drops me into Darwin where I can select the mac partition and boot into osx. I don't want to mess that up cause it works just fine and it does looks like the EFI patch simply replaces the Darwin bootloader. Whew. Think I'll back up my entire hard disk before I do anything ...
