Zeblade
if you do a search for your board you will find a lot of info. But I have a P35c and have my HD SATA in the one above the purple one. 3vilution
Ok, Try only using one hard drive and hooking into one of the orange sata ports; and see if you get any luck. You also may want to try a different dvd burner if you have one. A sata would be better. bkkrafty
I did a search nothing helped, I have tried the purple with and without the AHCI mode and still nothing. I have also tried a 10.4.10 release I hace and a 10.4.6 release and still get the same message.I dont have any red sata connection only Yellow and purple. I thought it might have been because I didnt have to drive set at the right formate so I reformatted to FAT32 and only hooked up that drive....still no luck, I tried it in all of the sata connections Yellow and Purple Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73816-p35-ds3r-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-521526 Share on other sites

bkkrafty
I have not tried a usb dvd drive, I dont have one to try. Would It be because I have an IDE dvd drive, from the other post I have read the still waiting for root device was cause because i could not see the Hard drives. 3vilution
Well If you cant find any more answers, i would get a sata dvd-rw, reason being is cause your ide is jmicron and that usually is not supported. and i had the same problem with my ide harddrive and it wouldnt find it. So I would say get sata dvdrw if you cant get it to work. jasonwoodvine
Hi I must admit I agree with 3vilution get a sata dvd drive. I have a GA-P35C DS3R rev 2.0 something very simular to your own and It works like a treat (no sound at first but fixable). Don't use JMicron only ACHI. I have all the drives in the orange SATA ports. Hope this helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73816-p35-ds3r-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-521565 Share on other sites
