domino
I think the sound has something to do with which sound codec it was encoded in. try a few other divx/xdiv sources and pay attention to the audio codec for the files. I've tried 1 divx vid with really messed up sound. Then I tried another proper ripped movie and sound worked well. vaka
Is the full pack of Quicktime components existed ? I've downloaded several codecs some with its own players, others as quicktime components. Now i can't even understand which codec to which compressor relates to. Сan anyone answer my questions to clarify the situation: 1. Where should i place quicktime .components-files ? There are two folders /System/Library/QuickTime and /Library/Quicktime. Which one is right ? 2. Let's assume i'll put my components to the right directory. Should i reboot (log out) to make components active ? 3. Will PowerPC Quicktime components work on OSX86 10.4.5 ? I think, it'll be very usefull, if somebody, who have "all" needed components or codecs, will pack them all together to make a codec pack just like K-Lite codec pack on PC. I can share codecs i have, but it's like trash basket. MacApprentice
This thing is USELESS! Just use VLC, it plays everything and don't need {censored} codecs. nixblicker
Yeah, VLC is good if you have QE. Otherwise it sucks! Can't even watch movies 320x240 :-( But with the DivX 6 Quicktime codec I am able to watch Fullscreen on my unaccelarated NVidia card! So much about this really good post from MacApprentice! FullMetal
Lately, VLC has been a pain in the ass! Use Mplayer! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7298-divx-codec-for-osx-intel/#findComment-79587 Share on other sites
wesley
Now, of course now we have Beta 2 of DivX for Intel Macs (I hope no one's clicking on the two-month old link on the first post) and it seems to be a bit better. I wonder when they'll get out of beta, though? BTW, components go into /Library/Quicktime folder. Assuming you have completely closed any apps that use Quicktime (including the web browsers) before putting it in, the next time Quicktime Player is run, the component should function, if it's not buggered. Of course, a logout is a safe bet. PowerPC version of the component will work if you set the player to Rosetta mode. On a related note, does mplayer support automatic subtitle loading yet? I hate having to drag both the video and subtitle file just to see the subtitles. It's not intuitive. tokra128
Yes, mplayer support subtitles on the fly as long as the subtitles are in the sasme folder as the movie are, and with the same name.... But now I come again with a question - any progres in AC3 decoder - one that is working... i miss 5.1 sound Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7298-divx-codec-for-osx-intel/#findComment-80031 Share on other sites
