errandwolfe
Is anyone else having a problem where QuickTime keeps saying it needs a codec. I have a heck of a lot of video in many different formats. I have installed all the codecs I can think of, yet still QuickTime says it is missing a codec on probably about 90% of my video. VLC works perfectly. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7211-quicktime-codecs/ Share on other sites
Technobob
It's because most codecs for Mac are PPC and Quicktime won't use them unless it's running in PPC mode. To do this right click Quicktime and select get info then select open using rosetta. If your looking for Divx for Intel build of Mac someone posted a link here a couple of days ago. errandwolfe
Thanks Bob, that explains it. Think I will just still to VLC since it is Intel and I have yet to find a file it won't play.
